I'm building a set of "tube" sub housings for the trunk and I was wondering if I have to seal the back end OR can it remain open so the sound escapes? I'm assuming sealed, but I don't know, hence the question. Thanks

sealed unless you make a ported enclosure and if it's ported it needs to be designed properly the port tunes the enclosure if you just make a hole in a box it will 99 out of 100 times sound like ass period

the displacement of the port is the only real significant thing. the actual shape of the vent is generally irrelevant as long as it doesn't promote turbulence.
