I have been in contact with Modern Performance for 3 weeks now trying to buy a WGA. First they tell me they are out of stock with AGP. They then tell me they will have some in stock a last week. They then tell me they are going to be selling a new wga, that will be better. They will have them to sell late last week as well and they would have lots of stock. Well they never showed up on the webiste and naturally I called and asked if they had any(no). I then asked and asked about it and they wouldn't give me any details on it(manufacturer, spring rates), so my curiosity forces me to wait until it is available. Well I noticed this morning that they are finally available, but they don't open until after I'm done with class. So I call 1 minute after class and tell me that they are already sold out. So apparently they sold their complete stock of new forge wga in 2 hours? How many did that have in stock 2 or 3? Now I have to wait another 1+1/2 weeks before they come in stock again, which will probably turn out to be 2 or 3 weeks.

Edit: Let's just say I'm dissapointed with the way things went down. I was going to go to a drag event in a week and now I'm forced to still just use stage 1. The boost controller I bought (greddy profec B) has no purpose right now.

Instead of waiting you should have put some money down on one. Then the ones sold out would have been one of yours being shipped to you.

They are a great vendor. I think it was best this happened. The new Agp wg's are out. I think you should get this one. They have the best spring in them. Buy it from MP when they get it or Exhaust Depot's got them already.

MP can't help that they dont have them in stock. Its, whenever the manufacturers makes them and sends them out to the vendors..

First off, why would I put down money on a product I don't even know who makes it, what it looks like, or what it's specs are? That's like a blind man picking out his favorite porno. Secondly they never mentioned that I could do such a thing and don't you think they would when I call every other day and talk to them on livechat the days I don't call?

Edit: dazone again... which were you refering to having the better spring? The forge or the agp? I like the way the forge looks and it sounds like it should function better, and it sounds like you can change the spring in it.

modern is probably the most popular vendor for common bolt-ons and so forth......
i know of several times they have had product arriving, and all of it had been pre-ordered.

Obviously you have never been on the buying end of the retail business. You can only work with the information provided to you. I have also ordered one of the WGA and had money down. I still have not recieved it because they were all spoken for before i put the money down. It is not Moderns fault. Put your money down on the part and be patient.

Modern Performance has given me quick, excellent service on several occasions. They rate very high in my book. However, if they don't have a part, there are other vendors...

If you know of a product that you want and want to pre-order. Then whats holding you back on doing this? That way you dont have to keep calling if its in stock? Then when it is. Its sold out.

I dont understand this thread..

I didn't know anything about the new wga that just came out. All they told me is that there would be a new wga available. They would not tell me it was forge, that the springs was adjustable, that the arm was bent, etc... All they said is they will have a new unit available, and wouldn't provide any other information. How can I absolutely be sure that I want to buy a product when I'm not given that information?

No other vendors are selling the forge wga. Forge is selling them, yet cost more to ship and out of stock as well, so what's the point of cancelling my order with modern?

I guess you'd have to be in my situation to wait 3 weeks (continously calling/livechatting the place trying to get info about) to find out that the product finally became available but it was sold out in 2 hours. Then you have to wait another week and a half before it gets in again.

First, to all of you that have posted in this thread supporting MP and letting others know that we are doing a great job for you all, thank you very much for supporting MP. Its important for others who see this thread to know that we are a good, legitimate company and we for the most part take good care of our customers.

Chewie,
Im sorry youve had a hard time getting ahold of a wastegate actuator. Those are popular pieces and the manufacturers are hard pressed to make them fast enough, wether it be Forge, or Agp, or anyone else.

We can only give you the estimates the manufacturers give us, and when they give us a timeframe and then its delayed, or in the case of Forge where we order 8 times the quantity of the actuators they have in stock, and when they come in they are sold out in 2 days, well, you can see the problem we are having. We constantly call both of those manufacturers trying to get ahold of more, but we can only work as fast as they can.

In any situation where you want a popular product, MP offers a preordering service where you can basically place your order and we will ship it off automatically when it comes into stock. We will not bill you for it until it ships. That way you have one reserved, and many times thats why we sell out of items before they arrive, is because a lot of customers reserve them. Id advise you do the same to guarantee you get one.

Yet you wait for it rather than buying something else. Now you are mad that you are waiting. Hmmmmm......

My advice: Get over it, new products often have long lead times and short supply. If you are going to continue modding your car learn that lesson and move on with life.

Many of times I've ordered stuff I had to wait due to in not beign in stock.

It happens, can't really blame a company for not having it.

yes, because if I order something else and the new product turns out to be better, it was a waste of money ordering the other piefce.

I have ordered before form modern, and it went smoothly. However in this situation I just feel like I wasn't given any information about the product and wasn't allowed any options other than to wait...which is what I still have to do.

As people grow older, they learn that instant gratification costs a lot of money...

If someone does not want to pre-order a product, they should have no problem waiting for it to become a less popular item (because everyone else that wanted one has one by then), or they should find a vendor that is charging a lot more for the same part and be happy they were able to find it...

I always find the "I don't like Modern" (and this was not what the original poster every said or implied) threads entertaining because they are so absurd. Occasionally someone will have a legitimate problem, that always seems to have to do with a miscommunication over the phone, and even then, if they had just called back to Modern privately, it would have been settled. But, for the most part, it's just people setting their own expectations and then getting upset when Modern doesn't adopt those expectations.

There's a reason I always refer my customers who just want to buy something to Modern Performance. I know Cory is much better able to serve them, and frankly, is a lot more likely to put up with their BS when they start imagining problems. Nobody is a more annoying customer than I am, mostly because I believe my priorities are more important than other peoples priorities, but I have never been able to find fault with Modern Performance. Even whan I do the same thing that everyone else is capable of doing, misunderstanding something and then assuming something else, Cory and his staff are able to solve the problem.

At this point, the only peers that Cory has when it comes to honesty, integrity, and customer service are Scott at Maxxfab and MannyZ. Jeff and Ted at Hendrick Dodge are also part of the group of top-notch vendors, but that should be expected of their operation. The guys at Psi-fi are real close, but they tend to announce things a little early which can annoy people. Of course, Mopar Performance does the same thing, but technically we don't buy directly from them.... Once you start to get outside of that circle, you start taking your chances.

Regards,
Doug

I agree with that statement...except the fact that modern didn't tell me I could pre-order it. I'm sorry I'm a stupid customer, but if you want my money asap you gotta tell me things like that sometimes.
