Yes, we can thank the lucky stars someone been looking at for us. Congrats to Bucknell; John R. (Royal Oak, MI); Musial; Marc (Leonard, MI).

Patent: 6,796,134

ABTRACT: An intercooler for a vehicle engine incorporating an exhaust gas turbocharger and an air conditioning system, the intercooler comprising: a charge air cooler loop operatively connected to cool heated, pressurized air from the turbocharger before it flows into the vehicle engine; and an air conditioning system bypass loop operatively connecting the air conditioning system to the charge air cooler loop.

(You will need the TIFF Plugin from http://www.alternatiff.com/ to view diagram of the intercooler setup.)

So it's a take on the Ford system, only subsitute turbocharger for supercharger, right? Pardon the expression, but, cool:)

Marc Musial, I know I've heard that name before:)

So I punch it, AC compressor kicks on and runs coolant though the core before temps rise and ruin my fun.

So, is it Mopar for a toy for us? Or DCX for some future application. If so, what app, the PT GT? I thought we were done with the "honking 2.4" after 06, except for the previously mentioned applcation

Damn it.... I had kicked around a system like this several years back... I was thinking using the AC to supercool a saline solution for a water to ail intercooler.....would be nice to charge up the system then shut off just before you run down the track..

I have a hard time believing the AC unit can furnish a supply of cool air that can keep up with the turbo intake? The Viper deal is useless. Any air comming in the intake overpowers any cooling effect unless your idling in traffic.

If I remember right, it NOT cool air, but the refrigerant itself that is plumbed through the intercooler. When you go WOT, it triggers a bypass sending it through the intercooler instead of your heater core.

If it can make low temp air (what's standard for A/C output, low 40s, high 30s?) out of your dash, it should be able to drop the air temp through the intercooler.

the AC isn't blowing it's cold air directly into the intake if that's what your thinking. It would just be cooling off the intercooler which cools the air that is normally sucked in by the turbo.

prechiller = a small condenser in the intake, not quite what we are talking about, I THINK, but not sure
