All-wheel drive provides the solution to those who require the best in passenger-car four-season traction. It is available with the 3.5-liter high-output engine, as well as the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine.
The all-wheel-drive system adds a front differential and a transfer case compared to the rear-wheel drive configuration. The power is divided between the front and rear differentials and is transmitted to both axles at all times. The transfer case is a planetary center differential that delivers 62 percent of the engine torque to the rear axle and 38 percent to the front.
By driving continuously through all four wheels, the all-wheel-drive system provides excellent cornering balance under all driving conditions, and better traction in snow and wet-weather conditions. Combined with All-Speed TCS and ESP, performance and stability are outstanding under all traction conditions.
I thought I wanted the AWD? I think I will go with the RWD from the performance standpoint. I'd rather be able to spin the rear tires with 100% of the power rather than 62% power to the rear.
Plus, It sorely needs a lowering kit and the AWD is 1" higher than the RWD and who knows if anyone or when someone will make a drop kit for the AWD model. Finding a performanc suspension and lowering springs for the W210 4Matic is impossible. The RWD platform is also capable of doing the a staggered wheel setup and the AWD not.
agree'd if the AWD was avail right off the bat i would have opted for it on mine, now i am happy i did not for several reason. AWD is nice but there are some down sides to it.
which one of those is the production car? the headlights on the two cars are different...personally i like the middle one best...but i doubt it's production.

I have not heard of any official SRT-8 project. The only rumors I have heard is that a supercharger "may" become available through motorsport division.
I just don't see that happening for awhile if it does at all. Since it has not been leaked mainstream you can expect that it would be at least 2006 or 2007 before you saw such a car and by then the Superchargers will be available in aftermarket.
Black Pearl, Lt Slate interior, Satelite radio, 388 Boston Acoustic system w/ subwoofer(sound group II), sun/moon roof, protection package II (side curtains and run flats), wood trim.
the headlights on the middle one are the 300c headlights (yes the production units) the other basic headlights will be on the 3 lower models

AWD will be avail with the 3.5 or the 5.7 HEMI only

The point of bringing up this car model is for those who what a real performance sedan to match the M5, CTV, and other in that category. I just hate to see folks buy the 300 C and then SRT releases the SRT-8 version. Making that 35-38K dollars payments and being disappointed in not waiting. However, this car will not be for everyone and the 300 C is a great car for the buck.
I am not sure I will be disappointed with 0-60 times of 5.8 sec but the more power the better. I would not be happy if this option came out months after the release of this car. I hope DC waits at least a year before adding this option so they don't turn off current customers. I would suspect this will place the car in the 45K range
Having been in contact with Whipple SC's I am guessing that they might have a deal in place with DC to provide the SC's for the SRT-8 since they were used on the test mules. They are not planning on releasing the completed kit until 2005 the earliest
