First off, you should have gotten yourself a o2 socket.

When something is really tight in there, I try to tighten it a bit and then loosen it. That usually works.
i tried that as well, didnt work. how would you get a socket over the wires?
I friend and I had the same problem a while back when we did his downpipe. An o2 socket would just strip it. Take your cat to the auto store, walk down the isle with the long wrenches on it(the really big ones). Find the(I think) 7/16 wrench. Use the wrench end not the circlular end and try it that way. After no success with any other cresent wrenches or 02 sockets...this is the only thing we could get it off with.
go drive the car and let the engine/o2 area get hot... then just throw on a pair of gloves to protect your hands from the heat & yank the o2 sensor out - should come out pretty easily

then once youre done send $20 to my paypal acct for helping you out ;)

an o2 socket has a slot on the side of it for the wires to go thru
did u try a small pip wrench (like the ones used by plumbers for gas pipe), with a long extension pipe
i think i am going to try some channel locks. i already have the new exhaust on the car and the old DP on the ground and i dont want to switch them back. i think i should be able to get it out with some channel locks. can anyone tell me though if it would be ok to drive it without one untill i can get one? just in case i cant get the old one out by tomorrow.

just heat up the o2 sensor then ... go to a hardware store and pay $10 for a small propane torch and heat it up - it'll come out in 2 seconds if you heat it up
borrowed a pair of 14" channel lockes from the neighbor. worked like a charm. i just didnt have enough bight and leverage befor. when in dought get a bigger tool. thank you for all your help. i love these forums, when someone needs help there are so many people that can lend some experience. thanx everyone.
i couldnt get mine out no matter what, i took my cat to AMS and they were gunna torch it out beacause thats the only way they said it would come out, so i just went and got a new o2 sensor
channel locks and vice grips are definetly not the right tool for the job, should have used a o2 sensor socket and ratchet, i can only imagine how mauled that o2 sensor looks right now...another car pwned by lack of mechanical aptitude and common sense....
thats going to be fun to get back out when you need to change it.
"another car pwned by lack of mechanical aptitude and common sense...."
i build power lines for a living with channel locks. i have plenty of mechanical aptitude and common sense, thats why i used the channel locks. i tried a thumb wrench first and it started to round of so i stopped(commen sense) and asked everyone on here for there advise and someone on here said that a o2 socket would round it of to. i new that i could get it with channel locks without stripping it if i used the right ones. so i got a pair of 14" channel locks which i new i could have enough length for leverage and enough bight to not round it of. it only took me about a second with them. and no it is not rounded of so bad you cant get a socket or wrench on it.please dont come on here being rude. especialy sense you dont know me or what i am capable of. this isntthe first car i have worked on.
New dodge hemi truck with less than 1k mile, i had to plasma cut the o2 cause it would not come out with the correct 02 sensor tool.

My 2006 frontier, less than 1k miles, same thing. Honda civic manifold 02 sensor, stripped comingo out.

You can use the correct tools but sometimes those things just freeze in there.
The 02 sockets suck:thumbsup:
the one with the off set drive that you use with an air hammer works great,

if you build power lines for a living with channel locks then why did you have to borrow a set off the neighbor? you'd think since you use them daily you'd your own set, no?
Get the car up to temperature then go to Autozone and borrow their O2 sensor socket and unscrew it and then take the socket back when your done. You must get it hot first otherwise it is a bear to get out.
i had two pair but someone at work thought that they would like to have my work ones more than me. cant trust anyone i guess. it sucks haveing to park your work truck with other crews. oh well. like i said befor thanx everyone that had something constructive to say.
