So I have the Borla cat-back sitting in the basement (still in the box), but haven't opened it yet to check it out.

I was thinking about adding the NeedsWings catted 3" downpipe to go with it. The Borla cat-back has the 2.25" inlet, which would mate up though.

My idea: have the reduction/end on the Needswings DP be 2.5" (they said they could do that) and then eliminate the 2.25" inlet on the Borla cat-back and then mate them up (weld on) with a V-band clamp connection.

So that way it's 3" down to the 2.5"
VERSUS 3" to 2.25" to 2.5" (which has that bottleneck)

Is this possible to do with the Borla exhaust?
I'm assuming it's just got a reducer or something on the front section of pipe that I could cut off and replace with 2.5" pipe if needed.

I mean, is it "worth it" to remove that 2.25" bottleneck section though?
I might even add the 3" O2 housing btw, so it'd be 3" then down to the 2.5" for the cat-back -- i.e. more consistent

So, follow up here, Needswings is local to me and will put the 2.5" end on their downpipe and leave it as a slip fit connection....saying that I just need to trim the reducer inlet off the front of the Borla cat-back and then they'll slide together.

I think I'm gonna go that route

Will that affect where the tail pipe sits? You may potentially want to add back whatever you remove.

I have the Needswings catted downpipe (w/ cutout) to the Borla catback exhaust. No modifications were needed. I also added the electric cutout because I'm old and lazy. On demand UPS truck noises.

Well yeah....they would add (an extension) on to their downpipe to compensate for what will be removed from the front of the Borla cat-back.
And it'd be a slip fit connection too, so I could fine tune where the tips sit.

How does it sound with the cutout closed?
(I'm not getting a cutout)

Like it?
Sound clip/video maybe?

Sounds like stock. Maybe a little louder due to the single resonator. Instead of the double resonators the stock exhaust has.

I used to run the Mopar Cat Delete with my Mopar Exhaust and Stage 3R kit.
It was "loud enough to make your ears blead" as I used to say.
So I reinstalled the stock, catted downpipe.
And added a single outlet exhaust with a Magnaflow 3" straight thru racing muffler.
No more droning while cruising at 85.
Nice purring tone when idling like so many true performance cars do.

Really?
Not that stock doesn't sound bad though.

Even with the bigger piping (both the downpipe & cat-back) and the higher flowing cat?
Really. At least to me. But it has been a long time since I've had the stock exhaust on there. I normally drive around with my radio on (only the back speakers work). And I'm running EP tires, which tend to be pretty noisy.
