well it was a disappointing night. heres my run beark down

Stock boost:
1. [email protected] i bogged on the line dumping at 2,250 rpm.
2. dumped at 3,500 prm. voilent wheel hop, enough to turnthe wipers on. [email protected]

Upped boost:
came out of the hold 1/2 off the clutch, let the cluth out at 15 mph, boost came in the wheel hop did to. pulled 2nd gear and spun all of 2nd gear. pulled 3rd and spun some of 3rd. needless to say it was a shitty run
[email protected] mph

with an LSD or a tire the car will be a mid/high 13 sec car.

it sucks this time driver wasn't the prob, it was the car having too much power. i mean come on i didn't hook all of 2nd and some of 3rd.

ouch! Launching this car properly is the whole key. Better luck next time, bro!!
i really don see the launching as the prob, i was fine till i let the cluth out comepltely, from what i felt the car has too much power for the non-lsd diff. even onthe street if i get onto it once it seels 11+ psi it breaks the front tire loose. like i said i wish it was the driver, but the car is jus too torquy
What were your 60' times ?

I hate to disagree, but the launch is the key. With a little more practice, I figure I can turn in 13.9 runs stock, on the stock tires.

Something else you need to consider is track conditions.

Bullshit, not with those trap speeds. Sorry to bring you off cloud-nine.

Just keep practicing. I bet you can hit 14.0-14.2 with your mods.
14.0 is possible stock (timeslips on my site)
dude what were you doing!!!! if my mystery SRT4 wasnt gonna be in West Palm for the next 1320 i'd be able to provide some tangible numbers for the 1/4 mile w/ free mod
ok..my 60's were 2.33 bogged, 2.29 wheel hop, and my final run i got a 2.23 b/c i came out of the hole soft. u guy don't get it, once my car saw full boost last night it spun 1st, 2nd, and part of 3rd. i do not see how me spinning 2nd and 3rd is a shitty 60'. that to me is the car overpowering th tires. here is my exact final run break down
R/T .759
60' 2.23
330' 6.759
1/8 9.958
MPH 78.99
1000 12.614
1/4 14.855
MPh 101.18

as u can tell after the 60' is where i began spinning, and i spun pretty much through the 1/8th.

God, FWD sucks. :p

FWD DSM guys solve the wheel hop problem with stiffer suspensions and motor mounts, but that makes the ride really rough.

The LSD helps traction a lot, but honestly, with that beast of a engine in the SRT, your gonna need at *least* some cheater slicks to hook up right.

This thread makes the extra $3500 the WRX costs not sound so bad. :)

Sorry, 2.2 is AWESOME on street tires . . . You're not going to get much better.

Your trap speed isn't there for a 13 sec car. :(

I know this. But not the way his car sits now.

With a good driver. I think these times are more what you will see from Joe Neon owner.
did you try lowering your tire pressure??

I dunno...it might help. When I went to the drag strip for the first time, I couldnt hook up. I tried letting out some air (a noticeable amount), and it helped a lot. Keep in mind this is with a '00 Si.....so just a thought.

Also, is the drag strip you raced at at sea level?? or is it way above?? The drag strip I goto is like 3000-4500 feet above sea level, and it REALLY fucks with times. My best time was a 16.1 (intake only) at 4000ft....it was a 15.6 at sea level.
i believe moroso is actually blow sea level by a few feet. also Moroso is known around here to have bad prep. when my car club went to bradenton every single on of us dropped at leas 2 tenths off our best run at moroso. Moroso is normally like that, u can hoook the 60' but once u get off the 330' asphalt u spin nasty. lets put it this way. at Moroso almost all 12 sec cars have to run atleast an ET Street to hook. that is unnessary for any track to have to be like that.
I managed a 14.1 @ 99.7 with a 2.1 60' If you ran a [email protected] with the boost up, then that is damn scary! FOr sure you can get 13.9-13.8 with that trap speed.

My first launch was my best. My second I think i did 2.4 or something like that. I had the tires at 20psi. If you ride the clutch out nice then you should get a decent 60'.

Also if you dont speed shift it as hard then you wont peel out as much.
My best time was a 14.3 @ 98 w/60’ @ 2.2 I know I would have had a better run if the track wasn’t like 45 degrees. I didn’t speed shift with my foot to the floor the whole time either, I was too chicken with only 400miles on the car at the time. I might have mad up another tenth that way.I’ve gotten 2.0’s in my Daytona with street tires so I know It is possible. But you need to learn to launch perfectly.

But the more traction you get the lower your trap speed will be. His Trap was 101 because of wheel spin. Doesn't mean he can run a 13.8-13.9.

But if 101mph is all the car can manage with the boost turned up. Then I'm very dissapointed. :(

This is not a 13 sec car as it sits with this driver.
G
ricetr,

where do you live and what altitude is the track?

Yes, 2.2 is a nice 60ft, but look at the 1/8 mile time. He's definately spinning past the 60ft mark. Modulate the throttle a bit to improve traction....

Absolutely False.

101 trap speed is definately worth a mid 13 sec ET. Back in my nitrous days my 98 ACR ran a 13.3 @ 103 on some baby 20x8x14 slicks. Put some slicks on that SRT and it will easily run a 13.5 or so.

But if 101mph is all the car can manage with the boost turned up. Then I'm very dissapointed.
Has anyone acutally dyno'd the SRT with the boost turned up? I bet there is not much to gain with turning up the boost. The turbocharger is pretty wimpy... hard to tell without looking at a compressor map, but the higher boost may be spinning the compressor to fast and pushing it out of a good effeciency range. Who knows though eh? Somebody should dyno stock vs. higher boost with an OBD-II datalogger to see the Air temp difference between the 2. If the air temp is rising (Due to turbo inefficiency) the ECU will pull timing and add fuel.. which will make offset the power gain).

Installing a boost controler and turning it up is not tuning boys and girls.

peace
