Well the headlight switch in my SXT died on Friday and I figured since the dealership was closed and I needed to do something about it I would check to see if Auto Zone had one. I had read on here that they did. One local to me had one in stock so I went and picked it up.

Low and behold it is a Chrysler part in a Duralast box. It has the new updated Chrysler part number on it. The part number on the SXT's is the original part number which is no longer used.
Auto Zone part number: SW1928
MSRP: 64.99
(Dealer MSRP is $91)

Pictures of the SXT's old one on the left and the new one on the right:

The one I bought brand new from the dealer for the SRT last summer:

So don't bother with the national back order or the dealership considering this price is substantially cheaper (unless you work there it's only a few dollars more at AutoZone) and it's the exact same part.

It happens a lot actually... Parts are not made by Mopar, but made by someone else and then dodge sells them as their own.

The back of it says Lucas, but they are both identical parts. I don't know how/why Autozone got ahold of them but if it saves those who need one money and hassle...it's worth posting :)

yea i had to pick one up from them last year when mine decided to fire up and melt. was kinda surprised to see the mopar part number on the back too. but considering the importance of that part to every day driving and safety, im not sure any aftermarkets would want to make them.

They make plenty of other stuff super cheap. It's just nice to know you can get the OEM one $30 cheaper and closer for most people :D

Just so that I have the part number actually on the part itself, can you post what is on that label on the Autozone part?

I can't read it all from the angle of the picture.

Thanks a lot Lilsparkplug.

I bought one right before I left the UK and I was going to say the same thing. I could've gone a month w/o changing the darn thing but I couldn't stand my fogs turning when I make a left turn.

For the exact same part! And that MSRP for the dealership was as of summer 09, not sure if it went up or not.
