I am just wondering if there is a nice hole somewhere in my firewall or am I going to have to drill a hole for this 4g wire to go through. If so anyone know where the heater core is so I dont go through it?[/b]

are there any rubber grommets in the firewall that you could make a bit larger? sometimes they have small wires going thru with a big grommet, that you just need to trim to your liking. i cant say for sure cause i dont have a srt yet
There is a big rubber grommet in your firewall you can go thru. I'm not sure what all is in the wire bundle, but it's there. As your looking in the engine bay it's the wire bundle going thru the firewall at the back right corner...hope that helps...if not I'll snap a pic of it for you guys to show you how I did it.
Not yet however...... since I work at a shop the plan is to do a super lightweight system along the following lines:

Replacing the factory center console from the shifter forward and part of the lower dash to house a single 8" sub (one 8 in front makes quite impressive results from past experience) this will be all molded fiberglass, will be quite a fun project though, kinda like putting a 10" in the dash of a 96 firehawk I did once.

Replacing the rear view mirror with a widescreen kenwood monitor and installing back-up cam in the factory trunk keyhole, been done a million times, but still neat.

Dunno what we're doing for a headunit. Speaking of which anyone want a Kenwood KVT-911DVD system? =)

Building and installing custom fiberglass kickpanels with a 3-way component set up front, probably Diamond or JL, I have a XR653-CS set now and I like it alot. Might get another since I'm seeling that set with the kicks I made for my old Spec-V. Also the possibilty of doing Excelon speakers, they are extremely lightweight for thier class.

We're going to do some small lightweight amps, we just picked up Memphis at the shop, and we were pleastly surprised with thier small size and great sound, not what they were a couple years ago. If not I may run JL again. Either way, looks like they will be flushmounted in the backs of the rear seats to save weight, with a complex amprack and all.

Not sure whats going to happen to the rear 6x9 holes, if everything works out good up front with the 3-way set and the 8" in front, I may just put some Excelon 6.5's there for some fill.

Also working on a custom fiberglass pod on the top of the steering collumn for a whistler 3300 in-dash radar system. And a Viper 2-way alarm system with turbo timer and remote start.

More to come soon as the resin gets mixed..

Thanks! I found the grommet going behind the front strut tower, managed to cut a slit in it, feed the wire and fill it back with silicone. Now if I could figure out a way to stabilize my rear view so when the bass hits its not pointing down to my lap!
To fix the rear view mirror problem, find a very strechy rubber band, take off the mirror, wrap the band a few times around the post for the mirrior, then slide it do it's right where the mirror and post meets. Works every time for cars that come thru our shop. Even better if you can find a close in color rubber band, you can't see it.

if your giving the kenwood away then sure...........lol i wouldnt be that lucky, but how much for it........even tho i know i cant afford it but i am asking anyways
 just kidding about above...just trying it out..hehehe
Well if I was giving away I'd be insane. However since I have some sanity here's the deal.

It comes with

Kenwood KVT-911 DVD DVD/CD/TV touchscreen 6.5" LCD tuner
Kenwood Sirius Sat radio tuner and antenna
10 disc CD/MP3 changer
5.1 surround sound and DSP add-on unit
sensor add-on unit, detects 2 voltages and 2 temps, so you could say display your intake air temp on the headunit, etc...

Retail on all of it is about 4000 but since I'm nice and had an employee discount on it to begin with, Im looking for about $1800 for the package.

Anyone know about Alpine Type E subs? I used their "System Builder" on their site, and that's the sub it recommended for a basic system. I don't need a whole lot of bass since I listen to mostly punk. I'm just want something punchy to hit w/ the kick drum.
Here's my system if I had a srt-4:

Memphis Audio MC2000D 2000wrms Amp
Eclipse PA5422 340wrms 85x4 Amp
CDT Audio HD Braxial 6.5" Component Speakers
Boston Acoustics 6x9" Coaxials
Treo SSX 12" Subwoofer

Sound good? I got other ideas but will post em later, my vga fan just crapped out so I gotta fix that real quick.
I've got an Audiobahn 4x75 thats gonna be running I dunno Lanzar Coaxials, and tweets in the dash; and keep the rear speakers stock for rear fill. My box is an Memphis Audio PowerBase, I dunno if they still make them.
Personally I wouldn't put a SPL sub (ie Treo, W7, DD, etc) that weighs 50 lbs plus in a car like this. IMO there comes a time where you have to choose between big system and fast car. The trick is getting them both. =)
It would really suck to lose a race by .1 knowing you added a extra 100lbs of stereo shit to the car. But then again you could make it removable for track nights.....

Well my plans when I get the SRT-4 are to make it a USACi competition vehicle. the Treo SSX is not only a loud sub, but it is also designed for clarity. The 12" Treo SSX is rather light too. Only around 40lbs. I would rather see it as a show car than as a race car. It will last longer :)
how much would you sell the mp3 cd changer for?
Oh I dunno, I'd say $200 shipped. Of course you need a Kenwood headunit to run it.

Jon
Question... What kind of cd player would fit and is it the same radio in the srt4 and the reg neon? Who sells the mounting and harness kit?
Just about any aftermarket CD player will fit, and you can find the harness and kit at your local audio shop I am shure. If not worst case I can ship you one if you can't find one. It's the same kit and harness used for the 2k2 Neons.

Jon
I've been tossing up the idea if I want to put my system back in my SRT-4. I don't have one yet but will get one when they come to Indiana. Anyway I had a pretty nice custom system in my 1st gen neon. 3 JL 8w6's, 3 PPI 2200's, Comp Quartz with comp cross overs, Quartz 6x9's. And it goes on. Just a lot of weight, but boy did it sound sweet.
