I've still got to bring my car back to get a couple of bad spots in the paint fixed. Drivers side back door right on the front on the creas was alittle light needed more base coat, and the paint is rough on far left side of trunk back. Those are little but they were imperfections and the dealer is going to take care of them. The one thing I didn't notice till later is on the drivers side of the bulge is a oval area that looks like it was spot painted and then sande out and recleared. Big time sand scraches and the color is off. You can't really even see it in the daylite but at night it stands out. While I have been looking over my car really close I have noticed quite quickly that the black is a semi-metalic, remember that when you get any repairs done. The shop you go to may not nitice and they will have to do it over, or you may get taken.

Anyone else notice paint problems?

I think the factory paint job on most cars (except the real pricey ones) is pretty much a joke. They just spray enough paint on there to barely cover the metal. It definitely isn't for show! Don't look at it too hard or it will come off!

Mine has a paint "zit" on the pass door, I noticed it while polishing/waxing it. Grumble grumble. Lots of areas that didn't get sprayed, like when you open the doors you can see primer in areas. The under coat is really inconsistant too.

I just noticed when My car was up today it has undercoating unger it, and yes it is inconsistant.
when my hood is up the hinges are primer also. My door jambs look good. I was at my dealer today and we couldn't see the bad spot in the hood because of the rain. So I have to come back on a better day.

Yea, I have some "very thin" spots on my car. Not on areas that you would see though. I got a run on the driver side backdoor that is on the very edge so you really have to look for it.

Is the dealer responsible for fixing this stuff?? If I go to buy mine and it has these problems, I should be able to get them to fix it on the spot, right?

Fix PAINT on the spot? Boy, you on that crack pipe again?

Seriously though, look the car over real good, I mean real good and point out any blemishes and have them write up a "We Owe" for paint repair and you'll have to schedule it with the bodyshop.

I have the exact same problem on the hood. Mine is black--what color is yours?
Wonder if it could be heat blisters that the dealers have tried to fix or a factory F--up as mine is right above the turbo-

Same dull spot (about 12" oval) with scratches then clear coated over---
Whats' up Chrysler ?????

Son's car is yellow srt-4 and it seems the factory forgot to paint car in a couple of places.. primer only in wheel wells.. primer showing on drivers side and door jams & trunk, giving greenish look.. Dodge said they would repaint car... really nice of them since he took it back to dealer a couple of days after he bought it...

I would suggest before taking delivery that you wash & detail car yourself in stead of dealer as you will see any problems & if you notice problems, don't take it and pick another one.. Who want's a brand new car that needs repainted.. Son was so impressed with power that he forgot to look car over real good...

I had the same exact problems on my car. The bottoms of each door look more like primer than being painted. I'll have to check in the wheel wells. I hope Dodge can paint these few areas.

Every yellow SRT I've seen has a paint drip at the leading edge, bottom, of each front fender where it comes close to the fascia. Maybe that's where all the missing paint on the rest of the car went...

Hey Daytona,
I was wondering much the same as you, my SRT is also black and has
many imperfections. Here is the list...

1. Inside, rolling edges of hoodscoop- the base coat is to thin and the grey primer shows.

2. Hood- has simular circular spot on right side as the hood bulge fall back off.(buffed out)

3. Passenger Side Fender- is sprayed with the incorrect black pearl coat paint (Daytona this is the wrong color for the SRT-4 it came only in Gloss Black, any metalic in the finish is a factory mistake, PM me we should talk, cuz we both had the same or simular problem) Pearlcoat extends down side of vehicle and feathers out near the middle of rear door, w/ slight amount on roof.

4. Body Cladding- on drivers side benieth door is marred

5. Roof- had large guoge on drivers side above drivers head.

6. Wing- paint under/near edge of wing appears to lack clearcoat

*Warning* Stock 2002+ neon bumpers are not painted the bumpers use a new technology called "paintless fascias" and the NEON is the only car in the world to use this technology presently. It is basicly 4 layers (clear top film, extruded color film, adhesive layer, and polypropylene layer) that are vacusuctioned into the mold then the larger quantities of liquid polyproylene are injected on the back to creatr the bumper. I don't know if the SRT-4 facia is manufactured the same way but if so do NOT paint it you will damage the structure, besides the durability of the new film is much better than paint, both in scrach and mar resistance, ans well as in low tempature impaces where normal painted bumpers chip and crack
