Mine came in today, and install was very easy, hid the small box under the seat and ran the cables under the console. Best $100 I ever spent! This thing is awesome, all song info comes up on the headunit face, searching is easy and you can search by playlist. Sound is very good quality and the Alpine MX makes it sound even better.

Overall I would give this unit a 10 out of 10, I am very pleased with these Alpine products in my car.

Headunit is a CDA-9831, and the iPod interface is a KCA-420i.

Wish I could find an Alpine unit that would hookup to the factory 6-cd changer. I like that too much.
I had read about these iPod adapters and the reviews said they were near-perfect in design. And some cars even have them as an option when you buy them (high-end BMWs and Mercedes and Porsches I think).

Only BMW that I know of and it is different from the Alpine unit. The Alpine gives you all of you song titles and mp3 tag information on the face of the headunit, BMW's doesn't. This is THE ultimate iPod/car accessory, everything you've ever wanted to use your iPod in the car.

And NoisufnoC, you don't have to get the 9831 headunit, just as long as it's a 2004 model and you also need a 3rd gen iPod or better.

really? i think that the MX feature absolutely destroys whatever material it processes. i think i used that feature on my CDA-9815 for all of about 5 seconds!

what type of speakers/amps are you running?
