Why would anyone run spacers on a wheel that doesn't require them?

has anyone run spacers on the ACR BBS wheels? anyone have any pics?

partially looks, partially to see if i can stuff some wider rubber on them. the rears sit way deep in the wells.
you shouldn't be able to visually tell that a wheel is 5mm farther out on the car, it's less than 1/4". No, it won't let you put a wider tire on it. That is limited by the physical wheel width and the tires available on the market.
