Estimated Appraisal Price - KBB Price - (Your Time Value * Estimated Time Commitment) = Value of doing this

I would substitute "Insurance company's offer" for "KBB Price" in that formula. The insurance companies don't use KBB, but other sources like NADA and Black Book. One nice thing for us owners is that Black Book now lists the SRT-4 in their collector vehicle guide and not the "regular" one.

Sure, if you have the insurance company offer. However, this is normally something you would want to do before you are making a claim. In that case, KBB would probably suffice.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but regarding our KBB value. Does anyone else notice it's extremely low. It's almost like KBB just considers our cars a neon and gives neon prices. People can't even finance our cars anymore because KBB is so off from what dealers are selling them for.

Two weeks ago a tree fell on my SRT. I told JBibb that I wanted to buy his car for parts, but that if another buyer was going to fix it and drive it, that would be better. I have other sources for the parts I need, except for a hood. Still looking for that, or I will go with a carbon fiber one, if necessary. (I've had a CF hood on it in the past.)

Anyway, I had to hire an appraiser to counter the low valuation from the insurance company, and the appraisal is for roughly twice the KBB value. That's realistic, really, since as far as I can tell there are fewer than 10 SRT-4s for sale in the country currently, and the asking prices are high. I'm fixing mine, if at all possible. I bought this car new almost 19 years ago, and driving it is a little spot of joy in life.

Not to hijack the thread but that picture just breaks my heart. I'm glad that you aren't giving up on the SRT.
