04 Srt-4 Not sure what is mod'd or not...

I bought the car used, the only thing for sure i know is done is the Mopar BOV... but a few people have told me it looks like my Wastegate is stage 2, i dont know...

Does this look stock, kinda bad picture...

Also im getting the p1188 code, i have read up on it a little here, but still am confused. ive seen a difference between 03,04 and the 05's... So my understanding is i should un-hook the red line, and ONLY cap it on the pipe side, but not at the silinoid. (wouldnt this cause a vac leak?)

Next thing i need to know is how to adjust my BOV, it flutters everytime it blows off, and almost sounds like its leaking when im building boost. i do know i have a boost leak somewhere cause i will build 18lbs and drop to 14... i dont think its the seals on the bov, im just thinking its way to loose... (and i know these have been known to leak)

did some of the 04's have to have the ECU reflashed? cause i have an ECU sticker on my car from dodge with an 05 date and it being reflashed.

lots of noob questions and there will be more, but hey thats the best way to learn....

thanks for the help!

yea its a stage 2 wastegate and you can't adjust the mopar plate you can take it off however:thumbsup: and if you can check your pcm and see if it says stage 1 or 2 your car may have stage two on it not just the wastegate and if it was reflashed it was most likely a used staged pcm reflashed to your vin
That is a S2 WGA, and you can pull the red line and cap it at the pipe. The mopar bov isn't adjustable, and do tend to leak. You should do a boost leak test, and take care of all the leaks.
s2 wastegate and rice plate.... not sure why you are thorowing the code though.
so i just cap the line at the pip, but not at the silinoid???
Looks like whoever put that wastegate in had a hardtime getting the heatshield off!:eeeek:

Ya im probably going to be ripping the heat shield off, it looks like shit... someone tore it up bad
You should change your wires also. I think I see a lot of white around the boot.
There are wiring diagrams you can follow that are on here, someone can give you a link here im sure.

Looking at what I can see of the rest of the engine bay, i'm pretty sure that white you are seeing is just dirt and dust. Just needs a good cleaning I bet. Although, a nice set of plugs and wires along with an oil and tranny fluid change are the first things you should do whenever buying a used car. Can kinda give you an idea of how the car was treated and you'll also know for sure that all the fluids are good.

True, it can also mean they been getting hit with a lot of heat. My wires looked just like that when I bought my srt.

And I just noticed that those are probably the original plug wires. The TSB that recalls all the plugs and wires replace the wires with a new set that uses a 90* boot on the #4 plug wire. Soo... good chance the plugs are the original plugs as well.:stab:

How many miles on your car?
56k and the #3 Cyl as a 90* boot on it, and YES that wire has white on it, they do need to be replaced... not sure which wires i will go with

just bought 5yr coolant and oil filter today, i will get plugs and wires when i can

If your going to pick up some new wires and plugs, invest in a heat shield for the coil/wires.

good luck.
im sure this is a good idea but is it really needed?? dont you think if it really melted the coil the srt engineers would think of this when they built the car?? i might be wrong

It will just extend the life of the coil, especially since his heat shield has been molested. The coil won't melt, more protection is always better.
