So long story short...when I was watching undersrtarmour get into the 10s I also met an guy in the Army who had a red srt4 with a Delta 42 and a shot of nitrous in Louisiana back in 2013 at a local track. Fast forward to 2014 and my dad purchases this same car for $6500.
Srt4 at this point has a Precision 5557 turbo with .63 hotside on the traditional agp log manifold. Car's modifications at that time were mopar STS, BC coil overs, AGP race FMIC, Sieman 888/1025cc inj, full blown dual pumper with two 190s, Side exit 3" exhaust, AGP 38mm wg, aeromotive FPR with -8 feed and -6 return,JMB 4" CAI, SDK ported TB, HKS BOV with cold and hotside pipe, small battery, N2MB wot box, 2-step, and boost box.
Car is still stock long block, stock trans, and stock clutch with a rescale tune around 19psi (not safe level at this point). Car was very clean for how many miles it had (around 105k) with all panel matching, which isn't too common for the red srt4s. Perfect interior with everything working.
Few times when my dad drove up from Louisiana to N.C. we would go to the track and see what she'd do.
Most runs with borrowed Koesi K1s on 24.5x8x15 MTs were in the high 12s.
After getting a email tune from Nigel we went to An event at Farmington's 1/8 mile track in September 2015 and were able to get into the low 8s and high 80s in the 1/8 mile.
Went a few rounds in the 8.0 index class, but didn't win. At this point the only problem with the car is anything under a half a tank it would cavitate under boost, and around 1/4 tank the car would start to lean out and stutter around turns. I knew it was probably the full blown dual pump hangers doing it. In the winter time driving back to LA with the twin pumpers still in I was about to get 365+ miles on a tank being around 31+ MPG!!. Not to shabby!!
Early in 2016 at a local 1/4 mile track we were able to dip into low 12s. Getting confrontable with the launches and lower tire pressures.
But unfortunately the stock clutch met its demise....so I decided to go to a full face modular clutch that was still VERY streetable so I chose a South Bend stage 2+ endurance about a month later. [url=https://imgur.com/SmFrR4j]
During the clutch install a buddy went with an upgraded intake manifold, so he gave me his P&Pd one and spray a lil red on the valve cover.
So I keep getting the car faster and more reliable to send back to my dad in Louisiana so he can tear up the streets lol.
Later in 2016 during an oil change he had an issue with the car not starting, long story short, it ended being a relay along the pinch weld for the full blown twin pumpers. My dad isn't too mechanically inclined and gets frustrated with the small issues so he told me just to take it....he'll continue to pay for the insurance and I just send him $300 a month til I pay the $6500. Seemed fair to me, so back to N.C. she went.
Come early 2017 I traded the wheels that were on it for some RFP1s with Continental Extreme Contact DWSs 255/40/17 for $500!!!!
In February I went to Galot Dragway's 1/8 mile track and got some pretty consistent low 8, high 7 sec passes.
In march with the fuel issues and sometimes having to jump the car with the bad battery I chose to ditch em. Instead went with a filter on the turbo, single walbro 255 and big battery. Then since I NEVER used the nitrous, it was time to remove it!!!!
While the car was down I figured id get a few things powder coated.
Finished everything up around midnight then its off to Import Face Off!!!
