Crank Seal

Gods of timing belt, pulley, and seals, grant me the sanity
to accept the tools I do not know how to use;
courage to change the crank seal and water pump;
and wisdom to know not to let the cam gears spin on their own
as gear locking and cam fixture tools are not in the moment.

Living one bolt at a time;
enjoying one pulley at a time;
wrenching in an open parking lot;
taking the input of the disciples
of the forums conceived with super off-topic;
accepting hardships as the pathway to the crank seal;
taking, as I do, this semi-inner side of the NSRT4 world
as it is, as PVO and SRT had it;
trusting that the 6667, 6792A, and 6793A will make all things right
if I brake them not, but surrender to their might;
that I may be reasonably speechless in this life
and supremely happy with the sprocket and cams aligned magically
forever...until a new timing belt is born.

Amen.

Any suggestions on how to hold the MPx cam gears in place?

How are they different than the stock gears? Forgive my question, I haven't seen them?

By the looks of it, I might be able to hold things with a ghetto-made fixture (about to make one), with strap wrench. I just got the valve cover out and did some measurements. According to the receipts I got with my car, camshafts are BC stage 2 ( I really cannot tell staring at them directly. Clues?). The holes on the shafts where the fixture goes are about 5/16" dia., and 5.5" (outside edge of the two holes) apart.

You use a cam fixture tool to lock the cams in place....it sits in the dowel holes on the cam shafts. It's literally a plate of sheet metal with two pegs in it that lock the cams at TDC

Thanks. I followed your suggestion. Made one with 1.25" (max should be 1.5") x .25" bar, and I was able to get the cam and crank bolts loose. It worked
