Default Wide Band O2 Wiring ... Bosch LSU4.2

can anyone explain what these wires run?

focus on the right side...

I know the H+ and H- are the switched heater power wires..

But the Ip, Vs and Vs/Ip make no sense. I figure one is a sensor output and the others maybe power...but I am not sure about those.

Anyone have some idea? I am trying to run this thing from my Profec e-01

Thanks

C

Do you just have the O2 or do you have the wideband driver too? If you have the driver, I am pretty sure that you want the white wire.

right now all i have is the sensor and the 10' extension plug for the VW style plug to LM-1 unit.

I dont have the LM-1, nor want to buy it. As far as I can see greddy says I should be able to run an O2 sensor with the Profec and additional harness. I'm certain I'll have to canabalize the wires a bit and do some soldering...i'm just not sure which ones need to have that done.

Thanks Ant.

Granted I am not familuar with the Greddy unit but I am pretty sure that you need a driver for any wideband O2 to work. In other words you can just slap a ground and power to the O2 and expect it to return a proper signal that you can tap into. Sspecialy 5 wire sensors.

No you still need the wideband driver unit. The PowerPaq can just use the signal from the driver to determine A/F ratio and can adjust the ratio with that info.

the install notes say the profec can monitor A/F with the optional signal harness...i have one of those. So there has to be a way...

I am thinking that the Vs is a 5V in, the Ip is an impedence circuit and the Vs/Ip the signal out wire. As far as I can gather from technical notes i've read the voltage in is transferred to the resistor internally to calibrate the probe.

I just want to confirm all this and make sure i have it straight before i fry things...

Thanks for the input guys...

Here's an update...

Any is 100% right. You need some sort of controller to use the Bosch WB sensor. Here's why.

1. The heater wires are not only switched Voltage circuits they are voltage monitored to keep the sensor at 1500F or so.
2. The Vs and Ip circuits are independent, and keep a voltage of about 0.450 V to measure oxygen and hydrocarbon loads. Those two voltages are compared by the third wire Vs/Ip to calculate the actual AFR. The point is you need a controller such as AEM's or the ones built into the VW and Porsche PCMs.

Thanks for all the help those who contributed. Anyone want to buy a VW sensor?
