Would the intake temperature sensor be the one in the intake or the one in the cold side pipe? I see people saying they are monitoring their intake temps for intercoolers or WI with their obd scan gauge. I thought the sensor it was monitoring was the one in the intake? So, that would make no difference if you got an intercooler. Or, does it matter what brand of obd scanner you buy? I have the one from www.obddiagnostics.com and I just want an official answer. Thanks in advance.

I always assumed it was the sensor on the UPP since it goes up 20 degrees when you do a WOT run...Free bump, just want to know if that's answers correct...
The one sensor in that goes into the turbo intake near fender is the 'Ambiant Air Temp Senser' and the 'Intake Air Temp Sensor' is the one located in the charge pipe.
The computer can use the Ambiant temp sensor to compair the drop or rise in intake air temps after going through the intercooler.

Looks like we'll have to take matters into our own hands...
Start up and idle the car also get the datalogging going, note the temp...Pull the air box sensor and put a lighter a match NEAR the sensor for 10 seconds...Run back to the datalogger see what it reads...

I'd do it if I could get my dam USB -> serial to work.
LOL. I have the same datalogger too. I've never thought about which sensor the datalogger was actually reading from. I may think it's the one right before the TB. Reason why I say this temp readings are to high to be actual ambiant temperature. Bacardi has the right idea. Or just run the data logger and pull one of the sensor while logging and see if it stops reading.
Boogley, I thought this was done. The one read is the one in the coldside pipe, by the TB.
soo what does this mean then?
