What do I need to Monitor/Tune with a laptop?

Well, a buddy of mine gave me a Dell Inspiron 2650...a bit older but he said he didn't need it. I figure well, why not, what do I have to buy in order to connect it to my OBD port and start reading, monitoring, logging etc?

He said you could use the SCT tuner package, but if you get the error message "DANGER TO MANIFOLD" you should let off the gas.

or just make sure the floorboards don't fly out and then reappear back in the car 5 min later
