new diablo = 375
safc2 used w tach driver = 240 or less.
diablo is easier to hook up, but which one is easier to tune A/F with?
Here's the deal...Diablo Predator/Trinity cna do so much more than the SAFC/DTEC. I started with DTEC F/B, went to SAFCII and now have DSP. DSP has so many different parameters including:
Data Logging
Idle RPM
WOT Fuel 1k-3.8k / 4k-5k / 5k-7k
Rev Limit
WOT Spark 1k-3.8k / 4k-5k / 5k-7k
Cooling Fan adjustment
Speed limit
Boost Control
Read/Write time is approx 60 seconds
Clear codes supported
Multiple custom tunes.
The SAFC/DTEC can basically only pull/add fuel, and unless you pay the extra $400 (I think) for the fuel box you cant datalog AFRs with the DTEC...you cant datalog at all with the SAFC. However, you cannot tune a Diablosport device by yourself, you have to get a tune from someone with CMR (Chipset Master Revolution) which is the software used for Diablo. You can add/pull fuel in certain increments and do a few other small changes by yourself, but the master tune has to be done with CMR. But the Diablo doesnt "trick" the computer into seeing lower boost or hide other things to enable you to tune. Thats basically what the SAFC does. The DSP/T actually remaps your PCM to however you desire. The Diablosport ATrinity is a little more expensive but does everything the DSP does only with a color/touch screen about the size of a GPS...and you can view multiple guages in realtime so no need for a Scanguage.
The only issue I have with Diablo is that you cannot tune "on the fly" like you can with SAFC/DTEC. With the DSP once you change something you have to turn the car on and off and reload the new tune...takes about 1-2 minutes. The SAFC/DTEC changes things immediately while you are driving down the road...but thats the difference between "tricking" the computer and actually remapping it.
