Default tunning issues... NEED HELP!!!

Ok so I went up to a friends house in the country where the roads are nice and flat.. wide open, and no one around! wanted to try and up the boost a little more to 16-17! Before I got there I was runnin around 14psi.. and I had the a/f's in the 11's through both gears! So I upped the boost to about 16 and leaned it wayyyyyy out! My first third gear pull it went up into the 13's! So I get out and up the fpr, from 78 to about 80-81... It dropped down into the mid 10's after that and climbed all the way up to mid to high 12's by the end of 3rd.. but held mid 11's in 4th! So I waited for another srt friend to get there and we started messin with it a little more.. To make a long story short.. the fuel is at about 80psi on the stock 04 injectors, when I get on it in 3rd it drops to 10.5 intially and then climbs back up to 11.3?? Then when I hit 4th it runs 11.2-11.6! The way its set up right now it pulls a hell of alot harder than it has ever pulled before!! Since i bought the car from guhfluh.. But I have no fifth gear at ALL!! At wot it falls flat on its face and reads RICH ... So I figured I would post in here to see if anyone can give me some suggestions on what I can do??

The car is runnin the stage 0 comp.. stock 04 injectors.. mbc and a mallory fpr.. I dont understand why it pulls so hard in the first 4 gears.. and runs the right a/f's but once you get into 5th its nothin but rich?? any suggestions or input is welcome.. thanks for readin RICHARD

What are you using to modify MAP voltage? Static FP or 1:1 RR etc?? Load based or TPS?

Post more info and im sure more will chime in!

There is nothin on the map... just stage 2 map as far as I know... I pmed guhfluh to make sure! There is no piggy back system on the car... its just tunning it with the fpr and the mbc to try and get the a/f's where I want them! right now I, cant remember.. but I think the base fuel pressure at idle is at about 78psi?? runnin right at 15psi at redline? If you want anymore info just be specific with what you want and I will answer the best I can! Might have to break it down in lamens terms for me?? Me and vschaos where messin with it last night a little.. so anyone else with input and advice would be welcome! thanks

No piggyback, no MAP clamp, Stage 0 PCM and all Stage 0 sensors. 1:1 FPR with vacuum/boost hooked up. Walbro 255 pump. TurboXS MBC. AGP GT40 turbokit. Check for overboost codes? Check all the codes and list them. Some are erroneous because of missing items in the car.

No I have not checked the codes for anything.. I didnt figure it would do any good since every light in the dash is on just about! Guess I just need more time to play with it!

Glynn when I left your house from buyin the car and looked under the hood once I got home.. I believe the fuel pressure was on about 75?? runnin right around 12psi.. It got a little colder and the boost dropped down to 10psi! So after I found the little hose that I blew in half... and fixed that boost leak I turned it back up to 12... Then when I got the intercooler I turned it up to 15 ran fine.. good a/f's with the cold weather! fuel pressure was right around 78psi when I went north to play! I turned the boost about a 1/4 to half a turn up.. which I figure equals about 1lb of boost.. put fuel pressure at 80 and took it out.. a/f's shot up to 13's!!! so I let off... What is the max pressure those stock injectors can handle? and when you were runnin the 17psi did you have the safc on there?? was curious about that! See I dropped the boost back down to 15 and it runs as I stated above! but if I try to go down just a tad with the fuel pressure it leans way out on me!!! so I dunno? Just lookin for some suggestions, tips, advice?? something... wanna get this thing runnin good and ready for the track when it opens in march! Try the welded diff out before I take it out! later

On the factory fuel pressure regulator.... take it out and see if the little black o-ring on the bottom is still on it. I was having your exact problem, the o-ring kept falling off. I ended up getting a new o-ring from the autoparts store. I was around 70 psi before, now I am down to 50 at idle and she is running a 10.5:1 before I clamped it.

You need some type of mapclamp. The ECU does not like to see more than 18psi for to long. Maybe your hitting 18psi but your gauge is off?

Also a 40 i sment to work at 25-30+ PSI. Its not a street turbo at all.

I doubt the gauge is off... and the ecu should only be seein 14-15.. what it was at when I intially started playin with the car with a tad more fuel now! The only reason why I figure that is because through 3rd and 4th I can pull a little on kevin.. then when I hit fifth he comes back fast and he is runnin 17.5 about??? I am gonna try checkin the codes like glynn said... and try to lean it out just a tad bit on tuesday... see what I can come up with? If I cant get it fixed then I will just get the safc2 and clamp the map of in a way and help me in my tunnin! I can check all my vacum connections for the boost lines and see?? but I dont know!

Hey glynn while your checkin into this... You had said something about hookin up the pyrometer (egt) gauge... what wires is it if you remember? and do those gauges have lights on them? If so they must need to be ground out maybe is all?

Pull the a pillar off and look at the back of the guages. Trace the wires. They have lights. I don't remember which is which back there for the wiring, but the pyro just needs a switched power and ground to work, then the same for the lights.

I don't know about the tuning thing, but you can check the codes in the car just like any other SRT-4. You also might be running too high of pressures for the injectors to handle, but I dunno about that.

ED is right about the GT40. It needs to be above 21psi to shine, but you have a ways to go before trying that. I was running 23psi on the SAFCII and 750s, but I'd look into a DTEC and wideband seup with 750s, sell the wideband that's in the car if it isn't compatible, then get it professionally tuned.

Well thanks for the info on the gauges.. I wanna get them hooked up so I can see what I am doin at night.. since that is mostly when I am out anyways! I wanna get th pyro hooked up since its there.. the probe is already inserted it just needs the power! I was just curious as to where all the wires were if you still remembered.... But I will follow them and put them on a toggle instead of the accessory in the ignition.. I dont want them on all the time.. just when I want to see!!

And I understand that the 40 is big.. and takes for ever to spool.. and is ment for higher boost! But I have to work with what I was givin or left! I was actually lookin into the dtech... just need to find more info on it! Or a friend is supposed to be gettin something to tune his car real soon.. so if I like the way it works.. no matter the expense of it! I will probably get that! gonna have to get more info on that too wink(kevin) later
