After doing a lot research about the dtec and airfuels and boost I am wondering how exactly I should tune the dtec FCBC. I am going to be working with an NGK AFX wideband. Considering I am new to tuning, and with NY weather changes I believe 11.5 will be a healthy AFR across the board, is this correct?
My current mods are all boltons, s1, intake, exhaust, agp wga 18-15 and soon I will have something to up the fuel a bit, maybe s2 injectors. Well my question is, if I up the boost to say, 20 falling to 17 and still run on the rich side what should I lean it out to at redline, and at idle what should it be at?
Also, if I have the fuel to support it, should I max out the stock turbo at 22psi or should I stay at stay 19ish falling to 17 and lean it out with the piggyback? Thats what I kind of don't get, up the boost all the way or keep the boost at a medium level and just lean it out?
My main concern is keeping the car running healthy, as it is my daily driver. However I would still love to be able to run low 13's anyday.
Thanks for reading, any help would be appreciated.
I'll have mine installed on thursday and will be tuning also.Your idle AFR sounds correct.Thats what I would shoot for and I'm going to tune mine at 11.5 all the way to redline. As your daily driver I would tune different maps for daily driving and running it hard like at the strip.I like too keep it safe at 11.5.Some try 12.5 with Water injection. As for the boost question.Myself as long as the AFR stay level at 11.5 and I'm still gaining power at 21 or 22 PSI thats what I'm going to run on the street also.I hardly ever go full boost on the street anyway.Cops are all over. Those days are long gone. Its also good to get the new tech guage too see if your pulling timing etc.I have Aaroneons fuel return also and bottleneck fix.
if i were you i would aim for 18lbs on your current mods, just s1 being your only fuel change. should you add the s2 injectors then i would aim for about 20lbs, if your a/f's are in check. Anything over that and it's not your a/f's you have to watch for, it's your EGT's. At anything over 20lbs the stock turbo can heat up pretty fast. W/I would solve this problem.
By the way, I thought you could not use any other wideband with the dtecfcbc, i thought you had to use the tuner box? I know with just the dtecfc you can use an analog pickup, but i thought once you added the bc there was no ports left for a pickup...you may want to look into that. I'm just going by memory here.
