the place im getting it installed tunes up to 21psi on pump, they will only go past that if i want them to, and they are not responsible for it. my question is how safe would it be to have them tune to 25psi? and after that how safe would it be to run 25 psi as a daily driver. i wont be boosting 25psi everytime i drive though you know, just have it set there.
even on 93 octane and 23psi you will have issues, no more then 21psi for safety. even though you can run 23psi you can't always be certain you will not get a bad tank of gas. I'd rather be safe then push boost and make power for a short while.
Remember 89 motor octane is not that resistant to knock if cylinder pressures are raised beyond its capabilities.
Possibly run 25psi with some 104 sunoco or 109 octane VP.
Ditto on these guys but I would opt to use one of the DTEC 5 seperate maps and tune a 104 or 109 octane map setting while you have it at your tuner. You will never get a better chance to tune than while it's on a dyno.
If you decide not to tune a seperate map then I would surely go with a MAX PSI of 21 to save those parts you bought.
why? just looking for an explanation... after I tuned, I was spiking 26-27psi and settling down at 23 to redline... all this on 94 Sunoco.
Why is this bad?
detanation. 94oct can only ignite so much compressed air and fuel due to its octane level. if it can ignite it the extra fuel and air causes detanation. whichs means BOOM. maybe no right away but its a sure thing. general opinion is 22 on pump gas. 24 if u use meth injection with it. and anything more 25+ needs 100ctane plus, the higher the better preferred with out lead.
Nivo... I don't what spring is in there... I'm guessing the stock one... should I be peaking so high with my setup? Is it normal to peak, then settle?
I have a similar problem with my 50 trim, I have the 18lb spring in and the mbc at the lowest setting, but I still can spike 30 sometimes and settle to 18, and occasionally it will stay at 22ish. I know 22ish should be ok with pump but I put the boost all the way down because I cant stop the spike. When I get home I am going to relook over every thing and check to make sure i didnt install something wrong, but I have yet to figure it out.

Well, I have the same problem..... his is an MBC, I'm using a Blitz SBC id 3... it's one of the best in the world.... the only problem with it, aside from it being a little complicated, is that your set boost is not your real boost... you have to use the gain to get up to it then a limitter to comeback down from the gain...
right now I'm using S1 injectors on my big turbo kit, just for the hell of it.... and the boost is set at 16.5.... my gain is at 4 and my limitter is at 2.... I spike 17psi and settle at 16.6... so I'm learning how to use it properly now...
