Default timing being pulled?

I have whats in the sig. I was however only boosting a hair less than 20 psi. During WOT and near 4400 rpm the car seemed like it hit a brick wall (fuel cut) and backfired.
before it did not do this. Before this run all I did was wash my car, clean the cold pipe, and also try to turn the water injection pump clockwise to get more spray. before I was getting 3-3.5 knock retard, but now i get like 5.5-6.0 knock retard. My A/F is 11-11.3 on a hair less than 20 psi. I also did not mess with the mapclamp right before this happened.

would a timing pull cause the car to hit fuel cut and backfire?

First of all check your plugs and wires?
what's the gap in your spark plugs?

Why you went with 80 FPR ?
hopefully not on the stocker!!

well, ptp tested 80psi and was fine except for the noise at the pump. he even sells one for 85psi as you know. I just wanted as much fuel as possible without ill sideaffects, but don't know if the 80psi has caused any problems with others.
The gap is at about 0.035 with a one step colder ngk plugs.
I think i know what may have happened. When I turned the pump all the way up, I think it actually stops the pump from working. I just turned it down a couple turns CCW. I'll test drive it and see what happens. But even with the water injection off, I shouldnt be pulling timing like that right? especially with the mapclamp. Even without the mapclamp i should be reading lower than 11.2 afr at close to 20psi.
What was your afr with the 75psi fpr and at what boost?

my car only has 10k miles on it. Also the w/i is not working...I usually look at the washer fluid level on the tank. So without the water injection I am either getting moderate knock with 11.3 afr or i am pulling timing because i don't have water injection on. Either way, I am getting knock retard degrees of up to 7.0 on 11.3 afr @ close to 20 psi. With the water injection working, I was getting about 2.5-3.5 degrees of knock retard.

does anyone have experience with the car pulling timing so hard at 20 psi that the car backfires and it feels like you slammed on the brakes (ie. fuel cut)?

I read that anything over 18lbs on stock turbo and ECU/Fuel system: you will pull timing.

Mine did that under higher boost levels(19 psi). I put in new plugs (stock ones at .035)and some mopar wires. It got rid of that completely. After about a year or so, it started doing it again and I put new plugs in and it went away again.

I would definitely check your plugs, if it's not the plugs then the car hit spark cut because of high Map value on stock PCM.

I run stock heat range champs at .032 and my car runs strong on 20psi peak.
