Default spoolup of ebc vs. a mbc?

well heres my situation.

i bought a turbo from PTP. dude lied saying itd full spool by 3200. obviously im not an idiot, and figured id full spool at 3600 seeing that it is slightly smaller than a 35r/sc61.

i dont hit full boost till around 4k..4100.

im runnin the borg warner s258 (62lb), crower s2 cams at 0,0, 70mm tb, 70mm ported intake mani, full bolt ons, sct, etc.

duty cycle is 90% up to 37-3800ish then drops to a reasonable 55-60% to maintain boost (21-22). so it is runnin max duty cycle during spoolup, meaning i cant get it to spool it any faster.

any idea or any experience of going from ebc to mbc would increase spool up faster?

more specifically im lookin at the hallman ceramic ball pro rx or the turbosmart dual stage.

im looking at any way to spool this thing faster. i ordered a race head (+2exh valves, 5angle valve job, race port)...supposedly will get 2-300rpm faster spool. i figure cramming all that air into a stock head is slowing everything up.
n2mb told me to lean my afrs at spool up from 10.0 to 11.5

and i was thinking of maybe trying a top-notch mbc to see if itd help any.

i love my AVCR tho...but if i can get 200rpm spool out of a ceramic ball mbc, ill remove it at the cost of being a tractionless wonder until 100mph..

I don't think it gets any better than an ebc to be honest. Monsterlemon said the same thing...he was on mbc then went ebc and it was night and day, the ebc was way better. Oh yeah...not sure if it matters but at spoolup I'm mid 12s and it spools quicker than 11s does. Then I just have it richen up back into the mid 11s by about 12-15psi and the rest is history.

10.0 spool-up A/F is brutal! I'd lean it out to at least 11.5 on the way up.

i guess ill just have to take it 1step at a time.

i feel like this thing should spool alot faster.

my afrs ARE 10.0 during spoolup. prolly lower. wideband doesnt read below 10.0

i just never leaned it out because i dont want any chance of detonation.

i just wonder how the avcr would compare to a top of the line hallman..

Your not going to run into detonation on the spool-up, it's only at full boost moving across your RPM's that you need to be "safe"

I don't have any knocking issues running 12s during spoolup. I get them shortly after I richen it out actually, right around 3200 is when I start knocking. My meth comes on at 10psi though so it runs pretty good if I feel like turning the meth on lol.

Why not look into this if you have not already. I have heard good things about and it seems to offer what you want.

On the left of the link is another link to the "Online manual". On page 22 it describes the Wastegate Control that you may be looking for.

Prologger Wideband o2 Electronic Fuel Injection Tuning Solutions

Yeah I know its primarily pitched or functions as a wideband controller and logger but from what I have heard the boost control feature works extremely well.

Just throwing that out there if you have not looked into it.

well knock/detonation is most likely to occur at the point of highest cylinder pressure, which is typically at MAX torque.
max torque usually comes on at or right after spool...so thats why ive always played it safe.

thanks for the suggestions tho guys.

ill try leaning her out during spoolup. im sure leaning it out 2 full points will make SOME type of difference...

lean spool that thing.

I like that you can vary your solenoid duty cycle w/ a EBC

yea no doubt.

funny thing is i turned off "learn-gear" on mine, and but it has this like adaptive memory function thing.

itll run full duty cycle to help spool it, then lower it right as i hit full boost to the duty cycle i set it to.

incredibly smart ebc...
