If i install a 3 bar map sensor, and the car is scaled for the stock 2.25 will it throw a CEL? I'm not planning to run the car this way, i'm trying to diagnose whether or not my stock map sensor is bad and i only have a 3 bar here to swap it out with.
i want to know as well. i kind of want to go ahead and get a 3 bar map and tip sensor. but i want to know if it is possible on stock pcm. i figure it should be ok.
lets see , if the 2.25 bar map sends a 0-5v signal & 18.2psi = max voltage , & a 3 bar map gave you a range more like 29psi = max voltage , then it would seem that the 3bar would tell 2.25 bar ECU that there is much less boost than there really is . In closed loop the ECU may be able to compensate , but I dont know . How safe it would be to run like that , i dont know . WOT , or any heavy throttle would be out of the question IMO . Because at high boost the ECU would think that the 20psi signal is only 12psi !!! Dont check my math , thats a SOMA figure .
I know boosting it is out of the question. I'm just trying to avoid any unnecessary starts on this new motor until i can break it in properly. And before I can break it in I need to figure out this map sensor issue.
