Default problems with whoknows wat

ok im lost lol. hang with me while i explain. i have a first gen r/t with srt turbo and all supporting mods. i have gone far beyond wat is needed to turbo the car and it has ran great till the past few weeks. most of thee driving i have done with the car is around town so i can monitor the motor and prepare it for longer trips. well a few weeks ago i went out to a car meet about 45 minute away. all went well till the trip home. cruising about 55mph it would act like it stalled and loose all power. a second or two later it would return to normal and then repeat. a few times my gauge would jump all aournd and stick in place during this
i checked all the easily acessible sensors to make sure they were pluged in. i added 2 grounds to the motor and cleaned the ones in the trunk from the battery. i pulled the codes and only one s that came up were 02 malfuntion and batery disconected within 50 starts. this problem cleared up for a while and then came back a few days later. occurs at full and part throttle.

i been dying to get the car down the track and so far this problem has blocked me. i tried once and 2nd and 3rd gear cut up like explained. was at 48 mph at the 1/8th cuz i couldnt get it to move . i shifted just past the 1/8th and pulled in 4th all the way till the traps and ran 15.5 at 100 on 8 lbs of boost WTF lol ANY HELP OR IDEAS LEMME KNOW

What gauge(s) was bouncing around and can you be more specific on the "bouncing around"?

yea sory was in a hury to type it out. when the car seems to loose power the tach and speedo started to bounce all around and once the "problem" cleared up they would either return to normal or just stick on random areas. seems to me that a few times i remember hearing the chime sound like when you turn the key on. maybe tomorrow ill take a video of it.
seems like ecu looses power for a few moments and the kicks back up.

This issue is more common then you think, trust me I have been chasing down shit like this in my 1st gen forever!! they don't have the best PCM's or wiring, I would start there, check for all the plugs inside the car from the doors to the dash look for melted plugs or burnt up wires. Since you say its killing the whole car not just your gauges then check around the PDC and all the wiring feeding it and anything around the ASD Relay. Also I had an intrepid one time do something close to this and it was an o2 sensor with a cut wire grounding out the ASD and shutting the car off so check for that too.

Its either going to be something really in depth, or something really stupid that is just hard to find.

You should really be asking for help on neons.org. Not too many people here are going to be much help with a 1st gen let alone a 1st gen with an srt turbo on it.

Chances are you melted a wire somewhere and have an electrical/ground issue like Big D said.

That is very true Sach, Neons.org is the place to be for this kind of question, there are many good people on there that have done this setup and I'm sure they will be happy to help you out.

I'd have to give the x2 on this...

Don't forget to check for loose fuses/relays and what not!

Just out of curiosity, does the ENTIRE vehicle power down (light, stereo and all)? If so, check for high current short circuits. This could be something like the alternator wire shorting... Not good if that's the case!

Is everyone posting in this thread a first gen'r? I still have my first gen! Woot woot!

i took a few quick and crapy vids of it acting up under WOT.

small vid of throttle in 5th gear. towards the end you can hear it pop and studder before i let out. and yes i had the speedo sensor unhooked while i was working on the trans. forgot to plug it back in

3rd gear throttle. the tach started to mess up and you can hear it "cut out" at about 7 second in the video. i waas still in the throttle but it would accelerate.

and yes this problem happens at WOT and part throttle cruising
