Default Harder to tune without stock solonoids?

Someone told me it would be very difficult to have a tune made for my car with a DSP unless I was running pcm controlled boost... I dont understand why that is. Would it be better to go back to solonoids?

With a stock turbo, PCM boost control + stock wga works much better than a $150 wga off PCM control. Red and Green solenoids would be required. The PCM/DSP boost control is easy to adjust and has 0 PTB

If you've already spent the money on a aftermarket wga,,its your call but I strongly encourage you to give it a try. My APG wga has been off the car for several months.

It's very, very easy to tune without the solenoids. I am on a turbonetics WGA and I have 0 issues dialing in my tune. I have actually never HAD my solenoids. They were cut off

With a .50 trim, you really have no choice other than to be WGA controlled. A few have found out how to make big turbo PCM controlled, but you have to go to their shop and such...which long story short, you will be fine with a DSP in your scenario.

+1 here for non pcm controlled with 50.T or with any turbo for that matter. Personally I like being able to control my own boost. It's not hard and easier to dial in in my opinion.

Yeah that's a whole different story.

Tuning an External wga would require CMR or SCT PrP software. Many guys have done it and it works very well, but it takes quite a bit of trial and error to retune the PCM for the different wga/turbo.

I use an AFC for fuel and boost controller for the wasegate, no vaccuum lines are hooked up to the pcm solenoid, and havent been for over 50k. Not that complicated.

I didn't know anyone was still using pos piggy-backs, since they're pretty much obsolete.

You need to upgrade to 2008 and get a DSP.

x2 being able to control timing some what is great.

on a big turbo you might loose alittle bit of spool by not having a good mbc

Not to worry ill be getting a dsp in the near future, just have to wait till i do my clutch upgrade first. That and Christmas is right around the corner so funds will be alloted to other things.
