We at Benchmark Tuning have come together to bring all of our experience and knowledge to one shop to offer the best tuning solutions possible. Coming from both the domestic and import performance and tuning worlds we all have evolved in our projects to offer the most expertise possible both in-house and with affiliations with other performance entities. We share the philosophy that tuning is a very large aspect of your car which should be coupled with the proper parts to make your performance vehicle excel in all plans and goals you have for your vehicle whether it be your daily driver or your dedicated track vehicle.


Benchmark Tuning was started from a vision incorporating all of our previous experiences of Mathew Cater, Michael Cerra, and Daniel Cerra, to combine the best in automotive performance and tuning. Not only do you have Mathew Cater previously of 555 Motorsports as the lead tuner, but Michael Cerra who came from the domestic world specializing in performance on both cars such as Mustangs, Corvettes, Vipers and Diesel trucks for all your towing and support vehicle needs.

Mathew got his start with 555 Motorsports and has been tuning for more than 4 years, starting with imports and standalone ECU’s, soon expanded to Open Source tuning on Subarus, and Evos. Then from there: Honda tuning, GM, and constantly adding new solutions to his list of tunable ECU’s. These ECU’s include: Subaru (Open Source and Cobb AP), Mitsubishi. Hondata, Crome, Neptune, AEM, Hydra, Link, DSM Link, and HP Tuners, just to name a few of our expanding solutions.
After over 2 years of running 555 Motorsports and working with multiple shops such as DS1 Motorsports, Kito Auto Sport, ECS Performance, PIA and many more. After all that work he has come together with Michael and Daniel Cerra to bring the newest and biggest up and coming performance shop for both Domestic and Import needs, both with integrated E-commerce and in-house solutions.

Michael Cerra has been in the performance industry for over 15 years specializing in the dyno tuning of high horsepower domestic vehicles from stand alone EFI's to programmable chips and hand held units. His philosophy is a dynomometer should be utilized only as a tuning tool to correct any imperfections in a vehicle rather than a horsepower tool alone. With this dedication along with his networking ability we are able to offer our customer's the best solution possible to exceed their every expectation.

Daniel Cerra also has been involved in the performance world for nearly 15 years and brings a great deal of expertise to the fabrication side of the Benchmark Tuning. He has been involved in every aspect of fabrication from custom Street Rod parts fabrication to full automotive restoration. His insight into custom projects and fabrication solutions allows us to be on the cutting edge of fitment and modifications to make each customer's vehicle perfect.


Tuning Solutions:

Subaru / Mituisbishi (Evo) Tuning:

Cobb Accessport – Offers very similar features to OpenECU, but by adding the ability for real-time tuning and additionally a hand held allowing you to flash the ECU without the use of a laptop and only a small palm sized device. This device allows you to carry multiple maps and flash then very quickly or change at the track, along with datalogging capability, without the use of a laptop.

OpenECU- Open Source tuning is a cost effective option for those who have Subarus and Mitsubishis, that are interested in tuning their cars and doing so without breaking the bank.


GM Tuning:


SCT Pro Software: This software allows us to tune any GM vehicle from 96 or newer with the latest technical data and support team from Superchips Custom to ensure your vehicle is performing at it's safest maximum potential.

HP Tuners-Is another software solution for the GM vehicles which allows us to offer our customers whom don't need a handheld programmer another solution in the GM market.


Ford, Chyrsler, Dodge Tuning:

SCT –Just like the GM software, SCT is the pinnacle solution for both Ford and Chrysler vehicles alike. By utilizing this software we can ensure your 88-present Ford vehicle (Gas or Diesel) and 96-06 Dodge/Chrysler vehicle (Hemi, SRT, and Viper) are performing at their safest and highest potential.
