what could cause my safc to go crazy? I'm throwing the p0108 code so I'm guessing there the map wires need to get fixed but the screen on the safc is black when the car is on. I press the button and all the dots light up....I press it again and I get some sort of sensor check screen that I've never seen before. Most things say NG next to them. Bat says HI. I'm sure there's other things but I'm not near the car right now. Any ideas?

The map sensor high code (p0108) is usually the effect from adding fuel on the safc. You can't add fuel or it will throw that code. It's quite possible that if you bought it used the last user was adding fuel, or if it's brand new it may have had some settings already on it. Hard to say. As for the screen issues, I'm at a loss on that one. Make sure all your wires are soldered first and that you have the right power source and whatnot then go from there. If those wires aren't soldered the safc's can be very picky at times.

I have the SAFC installed and even when the car isn't running, the throttle is reading 70%. Any suggestions as to why?

Because it doesn't read throttle percentage. If it was hooked to your TPS it would be correct, but it should be hooked to your MAP for more accurate tuning.

Interesting read. I'm still not buying it as an excuse to make more fuel though. Your injectors/fuel pressure can only do so much so if you add fuel you're basically putting a band aid on a fix that needs more attention than that. Nevertheless, some people out there will do it reguardless then complain when the car is still leaning out and they can't add anymore fuel without throwing cells

Buy an SAFCII.

The SafcI only has 8 points of adjustment the SafcII has 12 and I think the neo either has 12 or 14 I don't remember off hand. Either way, 8 adjustment points is more than enough to dial in your fuel if you ask me.

I bought the safc2 brand new about 2 years ago...installed it and did the base setup but never got it tuned or changed any of the settings. I redid all the connections - same problem...so I pulled it all out and put the wires back to stock and the car runs fine. What could have happened?

So your saying you removed the safc2 from your car completely?

this has been a good readup for me, i recently bought an 05 srt-4 with the following mods: stage 1 upgrades, 3" turboback exhaust, injen 3" intake, MSD digitach, AGP fmic, AGP WGA, and it has the apex'i safcII installed, i'm not sure how to play with it too much, as I'm from the DSM world and have been working with dsmlink for sometime..what concerns me a bit is that I've read the stage 1 injectors should be 577's, and the boost is good, car feels strong and hits 16-17lbs of boost, but my a/f ratio's are between 14.2 and 15.6 that seems very lean to me, how should I mess with the safcII to get them to safer levels??

14.2 and 15.6 at WOT?
if your motor isnt F*CK'D, you should make ur s-afc not pull so much fuel and or turn the boost down so that it is in the 11's AFR max at WOT
