Will take about 3.5 hours from Clovis. Take 209 north out of Clovis to 469(?) at Grady to Logan, then NM39 to Abbott, US56(or maybe 58) to Springer, I25 to Exit 452 (Raton), then NM72 up into Sugarite.
Just so everyone knows, Sugarite is a NM State Park, and is subject to a $5 fee (like CO state parks). I will go up there in a week or so, and see if we can get a club pass. AFAIK, they may waive the fees for events. I will check.
Sautrday 23 August, 12pm, Sugarite State Park, NM (east of Raton, NM)
OK, only 5 days until this event! Bring nice cameras with you. We have gotten lots of rain here lately, and everything is turning nice and green. Will be spectacular SRT pics in Sugarite park! There is plenty of fishing there too, so if you have a NM fishing license, bring your pole, and you can fish the whole south side of the lake (If you would like to get a NM license, PM me, and I will tell you where you can get one). If you have a CO fishing license, you can fish the north part of Lake Maloya, and also fly or lure fish on the adjoining Lake Dorothy.
We will meet along Lake Maloya, and there I will provide maps to go up to Vermejo Park, and afterwards to El Raton Theatre. We will try to arrange a photo op at the top of one of the hills at Vermejo Park, with a beautiful backdrop of the Sangre de Christo mountains, and I will take a photo of each participant's vehicle. We will see these pics on the big screen when we return. Once at the theatre, we will watch some videos, play some games, and order in some pizza.
