INFO: Removing Outside B Pillars

I've head it's pretty hard to do. I want to take them off and paint them. I don't want to keep having to clean them, and them getting oily and dirty in 2 days. Thanks for the help.

I want to add to this...

The fronts are REALLY easy...
1. Lower window
2. Pull away the rubber on the vertical part of the door
3. Unscrew the three torx bolts holding the pillars on...

The rears on the otherhand...
1. Lower the window...
2. Pull away the rubber on the vertical part of the door
3. Remove two screws on door panel and window roller handle
4. Pull to remove door panel
5. Unclip the door lock and door handle rods from the door panel
6. Pull off half the clear plastic
7. Remove the two screw holding the window in place (there's only two screws)
8. Gently push the window down (goes down another 4")
9. Tilt window so the rear bumper side of the window goes down a little, and the front bumper side of the window goes up...
10. Push the glass towards the inside of the door to gain access to lowest torx bolt
11. Remove the middle and upper torx bolts...

When you reinstall the pillars, I suggest you do not install the lowest torx bolts...If you want to ever remove the pillars again for repainting or whatever, you can remove the rear pillars by only pulling away the rubber...You won't have to worry about the glass or door panel...

Thanks for the great how to. I think I'm going to stick to taking off only the fronts.

You could also put black vinyl on it without removing the pillar...Go to a sign place and get some black scrapes...There's also something called vinyl striping tape (like a 3" wide pinstripe) which is sold on ebay for about $10 shipped and probably at auto part stores as well...

Here's all you do to remove the rubber...Pull the rubber at the top down, then you can easily pull the rubber away from the side...

Here's the finished product...

question! when you remove all 4 of these b-pillars...is the underneath thats still on the car painted the same color as the car is painted itself? such as, if u take them off a black srt4, will the underside still on the car be black? as on a yellow car would the underside still left on the car after the bpillars are taken off be yellow? let me know! thanks!

Yes, it's body color and clearcoated underneath...But it won't look good with the pillars removed, IMO...Towards the top there's there's an indent, almost looks like there's a dent...

Hey Boost N Juice that looks really good. I was going to paint mine but seeing as how complicated it is to take off the rear ones, I'm going to get some vinyl I think. Thanks for the write-up.

They're just trim pieces...Your car won't let water in when it rains if the pillars are off...
