Like i said this is for the p0420 code , no others. My buddy had the same issue from tying it up and away from the exhaust. What many don't realize is that when the car starts at first the o2 uses its heater to get up to temp. then when your exhaust gets to temp the heater shuts down. When there is no heat, the circuit will continue to run until the computer see's coolant temps over 180. The prolonged effects of running the heater circuit can cause the senors to go.
i have 3" turboback no cat. on the downpipe theres 2 bungs. one is plugged off and on there pretty damn tight. i just installed the aem uego sensor in the top spot, and left the stock o2 sensor ziptied out of the way. im pickin up the non-fouler tomorrow, should i put the uego sensor in the lower bung and the fouler/sensor in the upper? or vise versa? i dont know which bung is best for either sensor..
Bout that Wideband o2 placement, If ya got a cutout put it bettween cutout and turbo so readings are still on point with cutout open. Wideband o2 sensors MUST be installed on upper sections of pipe EX. Look at your downpipe it is round right, pretend it is a clock face. You can ONLY mount the sensor bettween the 9 o'clock and the 3 o'clock position. Reason being
widebands are precision instrumint's and if mounted up from the bottom you will allow condensation to pool in sensor upon startup that WILL ruin sensor over a short time and cause false readings. It was nessacary for me to releve (beat the hell out of) my floorpan to properly install my Bocsh o2 so be prepaired for this possibility! PEACE. Shawnturbo
I just went from S2 back to S0 and threw CEL , I thought it was going to be a 0133, 0833 or 0420 for not having a cat...It ended up being a p0129 and a p1187 ...I'm probably going to do this mod anyways to prevent any new codes from popping up...
Well I had MaxxFab's SE w/o cat for a while ... like 4-5 months before I finally threw the p0420. Once it was there it wouldn't leave... reset the ECU start the car and drive for 10 mins bing... it's back. Did the mod today, and she hasn't came back yet. Makes perfect sense and is a nice fix. I'm sure p0420 is a thing of the past now.
non fouler is crap .... ive been runnin my agp kit for about 3 weeks now and with the non fouler the code comes on after a couple days of driving just like normal
