Default How-To: Replace HVAC Sticker for White & Red LEDS

i was thinking of this because i have been trying to sand the back of the sticker down and it was taking the black up. so i needed it to be clear.. so i thought transparency paper. what ever is white will come out clear. the only thing you have to fix is the heat part and AC here we go

1) i picked up transparency paper at staples

2) scan decal and open paint

3) open file and zoom in grab the white paint brush and start filling in
the heat and AC

4) print out and cut out i ran out of all my ink so it came out funky colors. so im going to wait to put it on the car
you can see a part of the AC i didnt do and the heat just to show you

hope this starts you off

I thought about trying it this way, but I'm afraid that the black area will still let some light through (based on past experience). Also, I have a better version of the overlay graphics if you want. I scanned and then re-built them in Illustrator so they are crisp and perfect. Not to mention that it's REALLY easy to change the graphics to whatever color(s) you like. Let me know if you want 'em.

Looks good, BTW. Let's see some installed pics with 'em lit up.

Tried this today. Just like I thought, the light shines through the black part. I think I'm gonna try a die cut vinyl underlay to block the light.

Doesn't work. The ink isn't think/opaque enough to block the light behind it. Looks like poop

what if you use reg paper then just cut out what you want to see then lay the trans paper over it. Do you think that would work?

WAY too much work. Those graphics are tiny. I wouldn't try and cut them by hand. I'm waiting for it to arrive, but I think my solution will work the best. Sand down OEM overlay until it's clear, then back it with a black vinyl graphic and lay colored Mylar in red, white, and blue behind it to achieve the opacity required to diffuse the light.

Yeah, let me know. That would be far less headache than the vinyl.
