This is how I've done it 8-10 times now. With no lift.

Remove Intercooler Piping 8mm/13mm holds Hotside pipe to oilpan
Remove Intake Manifold 10mm (5 bolts)/15mm (2 bolts)(Holds Manifold to tranny)
Remove starter (easier to get to Crank sensor clip) 15mm (3 bolts)/13mm 1 nut to get wiring off of starter.

Remove all wiring. Radiator Fans/Alternator 2 wires/o2 sensor/Thermostat/A/C Compressor x 2/ Knock sensor/Starter x 2/Crank sensor/Cam Sensor/Coil/TPS/IAC/cold side connector/Also remove slave cylinder.
Power steering pump can but pulled out of the way under the car. A/C compressor can be tied up out of the way.
Use a chain and bolt one in the front of the motor below knock sensor other one on rear of engine on back of block. Get tension on the chain with engine hoist.
Remove the 4 motor mounts. Top mount 18mm/Bottom mount 21mm/Tranny mount 15mm/18mm and support bracket 13mm/ Center swivel mount TORX-55
Lift motor/tranny/turbo system out angling the tranny side down and passenger side up in the air.
Goes back in the same way.
How does everyone do it with a lift.. I'm sure it is much easier.. remove all wiring.. put something to hold motor... remove mounts and drop onto crate raise car and done..
Also remember to put little lables on the harness and matching sensor, just a number or something, so that you will know where it goes when your putting it back together.....same with vacuum lines.
I renamed your thread. I tried searching for some information on engine removal and couldn't find much, so this will have to do for now.
I guess this isn't like Honda land where poeple actually need to put a better engine in....only those with busted engines or poeple making ungodly power need to pull these motors....so there isnt as much information.
I've had many requests for this. Although it's not an in depth H-T, it is a start. Thank you.
BTW, if you happen to do it again, please take pics and post them here.

Just curious if you or anyone else has tried removing/installing the motor from underneath? If so, is there any advantage? I thought I read somewhere that this is how they did it at the factory, but ...
For example... We started Friday night at about 8pm.. finished putting the motor together.. worked till about 1am. Started sat about 9am worked till about 10pm or so. Got up Sunday worked all day and was done around 5pm.. So basically 2 full days to swap old in...

i recently pulled the block out and reinstalled it, which takes a little more but i had a bare block to fully assembled and running in the car in 8 hrs with my uncle, no bull, i took about 10 hours to pull it out.
