HOW-TO: Prothane Race Motor Mount Inserts

So i just got done installing my motor mount inserts and took pictures along the way.

I'm not sure if someone already has done something like this but hopefully the pictures can help you out, however it was a pretty simple install.

So 1st things 1st. Jack up the car. I only had one jack and no jack stands, but i had plenty of OEM jacks laying around. I used 2 to support the motor. Use wood to distribute the weight.

Remove the bolts on the upper motor mount, and remove the entire mount.

The instructions said to use a knife to cut away some rubber to allow the mount insert to slide in freely. I didn't do that, i just used a hammer and pounded in the mount insert flush.

Installed with washer.

Now that the upper mount is in, reward yourself.

Now remove the passenger wheel. I didn't have any jack stands, so i used 2 jacks haha.

Remove the splash shield.

Now you can see the lower motor mount.

Remove the big ass bolt and hammer in the lower mount.

Bolted up with washer.

Now you can remove your motor supports

Reinstall the PITA splash shield.

All done, go take her for a spin.

And round 2

Enjoy...

Thanks, they feel nice and solid so far, not much noticeable vibration either. Hardly any more over stock.

Question

I"m considering this avenue. Have you ever gotten the huge BANG on the stock mounts when you really hammer it? Did this stop that? Who did you buy them from?

Nice write up.
Thanks for anymore details you can share

How in the hell did you get that splash shield off?!!!
I could not get it off, and had to have my friend pull it back while I tightened the bolt for the mount

also, did you have any difficulty fitting the tourque wrench past the A/C lines on the upper mount?

The A/C lines will move just push down a little. I put a rag on them to not scratch them all up and pushed down. Don't forget they need to be torqued to 85 ft/lbs

I did indeed used to get the huge bang on the stock mounts. I haven't really beat on these yet, so on the way to work Monday ill see if i can get it to bang, and post back. Everything def feels alot more solid though.

I bought them from here.

It was quite easy to get the shield off actually. There are 3 10mm bolts and 2 plastic pin things. Those were kind of a PITA to remove but i just pushed them through with needle nose pliers.

I didn't torque, just used "good n tight" :]

Next time you add a newly approve thread to the "Approved H-T's" thread, be sure to change the "How-To" part in the thread title to "HOW-TO."

You must also add the little green arrow to show it is a approved thread.
