my ebrake hits my center console to. and when im on a hill it rolls back bad. i know where the tabs are behind the wheel, but i dont know how to adjust them...anyone wanna help me out
a small standard screw driver will work fine. just push the 'gears' on the star wheel up or down (depending on the side). see the origional how-to for which way tightens/loosens on the origional post.
i guess you could tighten where the two cables for each wheel connect to the gear/lever on the ebrake assembly. i had my console off before but never really looked at that part of things. you ask me though adjusting clicks on the star wheel would be far easier than guestimating how much you need to 'pull' the cable under tension, hold it there with some needlenose pliers and re-tightening where the cable connects in. then repeating this guesswork on the other side, hoping you got both under correct tension and both even
as many of us have learned one way or another, the dealer is not always on the up and up about our cars
Another way to do this is too jack up the car, remove the rear tire, then the caliper, and finally the rotor. The Star bolt is much easier to access. Dont adjust to far out or the rotor wont fit back on. Just thought I'd add to this fantastic sticky.
True.. But that would take about an hour for both tires compaired to 10 minutes.. Its like the difference in crawling and running.. lol.
