What do you mean just remove the oil cooler? That's what this mod does. You use a hex socket and break free that middle piece that the oil transfers through and throw that AND the cooler away. Then the new filter simply mates to the oil filter adapter without the cooler between the two. You will need the gaskets or PTP's aluminum spacer to move the adapter farther away from the block for a bigger filter to fit.

Then you can get off just removing the cooler and not placing any additional gaskets or anything between the pan and the adapter. Either way, removing the oil cooler is what will give the added benefit, not the filter itself; that's just a perk with the vendors' kits.

I'll be doing this tomorrow & I can take some pictures ... I'm not sure I understand exactly what I'm taking apart, but I'm sure I'll understand once it's in my hand
anyone have any idea what the threads are for the oil pan? I need to go pick up some studs/bolts for it
