Hmm, interesting...I always turn mine on about 2 secs before the pull and then turn it off at the very end of the pull. Usually consuming the whole conatiner of water...And "bye bye", very nice set up, a lot better pics. then what I have.

Thanks!

That is a very interesting and very informative article turbojack.

I think the DIY intercooler sprayers we are fitting for the low cost are sufficient enough for the "run what you brung" weekend racer. I can see how with road racing you'd want a mist spray then a stream.

I have not had a chance to test mine but I don't plan on spraying mine as heavily as endlessheart666 only because my reservoir is only 1.5 liters. I'd most likely empty it before the end of the track. I can agree that cooling just before is essential as well. I'll have to look for some different tips or hose for a heavy mist affect. I was really going for a discreet track only look. I also need to monitor IAT to get a better idea of when to cool.

FYI:
Be careful with this mod at the track...I've had some buddies getting in trouble for water dripping out...

Okay to keep the drip from occuring after using the sprayer make sure you have some slack on the hose and bring it down and then back up in a 'U' shape. Gravity will do the rest.

Why not use a low cost check valve?

I've noticed that after that there is air in the hose and it hasn't leaked. Not sure what I did or didn't do. Hopefully I'll get to the track this weekend to test it.

Mainly because I'm cheap. But if you went this route I would suggest the float/ball style because of the low pressure needed to open them. This is actually the idea I had at first but then just played around with the hose until it stopped leaking. Boy that last sentenced sounded like a 'How To' on masterbation.

If you have any questions about my setup Custom intercooler sprayer pm me or just ask. I'm in contact with turbojack and Richard_L from aquamist Aquamist Intercooler spray bar....need feedback regarding their sprayer bar.

Either way if you can get a deal on the main components thats great. The install is pretty easy and fairly cheap. Keep us posted.

save yourself some money and you can find almost everthing at a junkyard, if you want a spray mist you can use ford expy or explorer nozzles, i put 4 of them, 2 on top and 2 on the bottom, i have used rubbing alchol and w.w.f, works best after 2nd gear i gain 2 miles in traps with it, soon am going to dyno it..
heres a pic

with the old nozzles just to give an idea

Im just going to use the sprayer from the windows, get some new nozzles and hook it up to it.
Since I dont use the washer fluid for anything, Im just going to fill it up with ice water, and use the hoses and get some new nozzles and hook them up to the intercooler. What is the prime place to put them at?
