The aem tru boost is one of the easiest to install electric boost
WARNING: THESE CONTROLLERS WILL NOT WORK ON 50 TRIMS AND BIGGER TURBO'S
The gauge is a direct replacement for the stock gauge in the pod with no modding needed of the pod itself....also use's the factory boost line as boost source for the gauge display and as the sensor to control the solenoid
All it takes to wire this boost controller up is your choice of switched positive and a ground.....there is 2 positive wires on this controller but they both are to be hooked up in the same place....why couldnt they just make it one ?
Then you must run the 2 wires to the solenoid thru the firewall.....i picked right in the middle of the dash where there is already a huge rubber grommet that the wiper motor wires pass thru...then just drilled a small hole thru the upper part of the firewall and ran the 2 wires thru.......
Connect those 2 wires to the boost solenoid where ever you decide to mount it.....dosent matter how you hook the wires up either the directions say any way is ok.
Run the vac lines per the instructions to which you run an internal or external wastegate.
Once the hook up is completed turn the car to the on position and make sure the gauge comes on....if it does start the car and make sure it is the new style that reads vac. AEM says that if you get an old one that does not read vac, send it back to them and they will wire the proper circuit into it for free you just must pay shipping both ways on it.....it will read somewhere around a 18.X as as far as i can tell that as low as it reads and will not have any outside bars lite up.
Now for the tuning.....

...Turn the key to the on position and hold the left button for 2 sec. It will display an "A"....this turns on the A map...push the left btton one more time.....push both buttons at the same time should turn on this map.
Now you can set all the other parameters too.
Hold both buttons for 5 seconds and then hold both buttons again for 5 seconds.
You can set your peak display scale and a bunch of other things while in there.....it is best to read the directions and use your common sense to where to set it all at....ex. If you only run 17 psi don't set the outside scale to 30 psi...set it to 17 or 20..............and set the display in psi not anything else.
Once all your settings are right you can start tuning it.
Turn the key back off to save all settings then turn the key back on.
Press both buttons for 5 seconds and it should display A10 this mean boost setting a 10% duty cycle start the tuning process from here.
From this point all you have to do is press the left and right buttons to up or lower the duty cycle but remember always hit both buttons 2 times in a row to save the setting you just set. It will say run when it is saved.
Start the car and go out and start your tuning....sometimes it will take 20-30% duty cycle to get any psi increase in boost.
Run the car and keep pressing both buttons for 5 seconds to get you to the "A" map and then up or down the boost till you hit your targeted boost level and remember hit both buttons 2 times to save...it will say run and then you can hit the gas again and see where the boost got to that time.
At this point it will only spike the targeted boost level and then fall off quickly....you must now tune the wastegate crack setting.
Hit both buttons an hold for 5 then do it again to get into the main menu...hit both buttons till you find the spr/gae setting it should be at 1.0.....hit the left or right buttons to raise or lower it by 1 psi at a time untill you get it to spike and hold your targeted boost setting....sometimes when going in 1 psi intervals it will boost creap above the targeted level....back it down in .1 psi till it spikes and hold the level you want....and remember always after adjusting the crack setting hit both buttons untill the screen says run and that setting will save...
Run the car till you get it right....once everything checks out fine let the car idle for a minute and then turn the car off to save the settings( per aem's instructions but i dont see why it is necessary).
I will get pics up if needed but i think everything is pretty easy....have fun and happy tuning

First of all, Thanks for the awesome write up! About this, I think AEM is just covering their asses since people are going to be tunning and boosting left and right and they want to make sure the care goes thru a proper cool down before some NEWB try to BS them into think this gadget messed their cars....
just got the tru boost and agp wga installed on my car. my dad know a guy that is getting rid of his car and got these parts for me. only problem is i don't have instruction on either one of them. everythings installed.
i was wondering how to go about setting the wga along with the tru boost.
great write up you did on this, i just need how to tune with the wga. nothing is set for either one so its like starting from scratch.

thank you for your help
you are gonna wanna tune the waste gate to the lowest it will go while still taking all the tension but just a tad off the wastegate....basicly just tighted the wg up just enought to make it taunt and then do the rest of the tuning from there...i believe the lowest the agp wg will go is 14 psi but i might be mistaken
this is how it set for now.
SCb 16.0
SCr .00
SEn 1....... the other option says E so i put it to 1
ALA 16.5
SPr 1.00
FUL 16.0
A10
b18
now not have the owners manual or instructions on how to set this up, this is what ive experience so far.
2nd gear pull from 30mph, A/F 11.9-12.0, spiking 19.2psi steady at 16.5-17.5 then falling to 12.8-13.5 at redline
3rd gear from 60mph, A/F same, spiking 18.9 then everything else is the same
3rd gear from 70mph, A/F same, spiking 17.9 then everything is same
but on a couple of occasions(cant spell) i did have a couple of spikes hitting 21-22psi and fall to the same as above.
i need to figure out what every setting is. i just don't have a book to tell me what they mean.
how do you have yours set up? can you tell me what each setting means
all i have is s1, mpx bfmi, maxxfab see, agp wga, tru boost, uego wideband, i think thats about it for performance parts.
um no.....you can set a scrammble mode which turns the boost down for a period of time but as soon as that time is up it is full boost....it has 2 diffrent boost settings too but would take to long to turn the second on that it woldnt be worth it
