alright i thought u could cause ours has some hard ass glue also but it does soften enough thought it might be worth a shot i will admint the painted headlights look good i have black headlight houseings and black custom painted eyelids that are not stright ill have to host the pics up on my website sometime and maybe post here or something anyways your red headlight houseing looks killer i love it
The glue on the headlights do soften up...I did this back in feb.But when I tried putting it back together I had 1-2 many redbulls and was shaky as hell and scratch the paint all up so I just took brake clean to get the paint off..
But you set some type of pizza pan in the oven with your headlight in it at 300 degress for about 5 mins and comes right off with some prying around the tabs...
i remember doing this on my civic..we just put the headlights in the oven for a few minutes at a time until it started to pry open, i dont think a lot of ppl on here are going to want to start cutting stuff. im planning on trying it out sometime in the next few days on my 05 black. ill post up some pics of how it turned out.
let me start by saying that this is a great idea and an awesome how to. now i was wanting to see some black housings on silver but i decided to go ahead and do it, i just got done sealing them back up, quite the easy job for anyone, just make sure you make clean cuts with the dremel so its easier to put them back together. and ill post some pics of them on the car tomorrow. thanks a lot for another great how to!

the problem is that from what i saw when i did mine is that there really isnt much glue that you can get access to if you heat them up, you can only really see it on the bottom, and heating them up like that may melt the lenses or whatever if you arent careful, and besides, where you cut it, theres a rubber ring that goes back ontop of it so no one will know that you cut them once you put it back together. but id stay away from heating, ive heard of bad endings with it up here somewhere.

i heated mine up on my civic and had no problems with anything melting, obviously u dont want to heat them up so much that ur starting to melt them. just heat em up enough so that u can start to pry them apart.

Dude ur talking about a honda civic. We're dealing w/ dodge neons and the company that put the headlights together. Not all companies use the same sealant.
How many threads did i go through with ppl melting their headlights,
Even Hak ( the king of retro kits ) suggests NOT doing that.
I mean give it a shot , but if it fucks up u are screwed.

Those pics look better than my depos
EXACTLY! it only takes about 5 minutes to cut each headlight apart, vs. 10 mins to heat up the oven, and 10 more mins to get them hot, and risking melting the whole thing......not worth the time or risk to me. but good luck, and this is no honda civic

Pedro what did you use as sealant???
clear silicone. it took about a half of a small tube. i just put them back together, put a bead of silicone on the outside and put the rubber back on so its all sealed

Not that i noticed. but it does reduce ALOT of glare when using HIDs..
wow thnx Milkit18 for trying it out and giving us some hope on getting our housings open without melting/fogging the lens. I'm definitly doing this, looks nice and clean from the outside. Does the rubber lens ring cover up the dremel work? or is it exposed when the hoods open?
