You want to cut where the red lines are and not stop.
The Blue rings show you where the shroud that gets painted is "glued/mounted on". You will have to cut this too after you get the Lense off...,.....ORRRRRRRRRRR you can leave it on and just mask off the chrome parts you want on. I RECOMMEND LEAVING it on and doing this. When taking the lense off look out for two male end tabs on the bottom of the headlights that connect to the shroud.
If you cut it, it will look like this:
Painting:
Tape off the areas you want to keep unpainted (as shown in the above pic)
I recommend scruffing up the chrome area that will be painted so the paint can hold better. I did not but i recommend it.
(Only b/c i can take the paint off later and still have it chrome)
I put 2 coats total of primer. Let each coat totally dry.
Then i put 3 coats of "flame red" on. Each coat was dry before adding more on.
Make sure you get the corners too or else it will show on the headlight reflector.
Finally I put 3 Clear coats on. And this was the result.
Sealing it up:
This is alittle rough.
You have to be very careful b/c the sharp edges of the lense will scratch ur paint off.
Also use needle nose pilars to take the melted plastic pieces (that occured when cutting) on the lense off.
Line everything up and use the pastic welding to glue the shroud back in place ( if you cut it like me ) You will need to hold it for a good min or so.
You will want to use 4 points of application. one on each corner . Left-right-up-down. It will be rock solid in 10 mins.
Now i used Great stuff lightly filling in the gaps (don't stay to long in one spot b/c it will over expand later) Lay a thin layer on and wait about an hr.
I used this stuff for temp. use not sure if it will keep moisture out once you shave it down , revealing the internal foam. sooooooooooooooooooooo. I recommend you use the window sealer caulk. I used some of it and it works really well.
