Default How-To: Fix Emergency Brake Rattle

After months of trying different contraptions i finally decided to permanently fix my ebrake rattle.

whats needed:

wire coat hanger
dykes/wire cutters
channel locks or pliers
phillips screwdriver
flat head screw driver

1.) first remove the screws from the center console - (6 screws) two in the cup holders, 4 in the console compartment under the arm rest
2.) then pull ebake all the way up, remove the shift knob, and lift and slide the console towards the rear of the car to remove.
3.) lower the ebrake (chock the wheels so the car wont roll or leave in gear)
4.) locate the rattling part under the ebrake handle flap

5.) now cut the hook off of the coat hanger like so...

6.) and bend it with pliers..

7.) now insert it between the gear closer to the drivers side and the ebrake lever base

8.) using the flat head screwdriver push the coat hanger piece all the way down until it stop on the pivot point..

now try to wiggle the gear. it shouldnt budge. ensure the ebrake still functions properly, and then reinstall center console and shift knob. ENJOY!
