You say there is no way to hold the rotor on while you reattach the caliper, but there is. Just use a lug nut or two to tighen the rotor into place temporarily for reattaching the caliper.
I CAN'T GET MY ROTOR OFF! it does not just slip off like ya said it would... i think theres too much rust... this is my first time attempting this i got the car in april and started hearing squiks so i bought the hawk pads and powerslotted rotors from mpx. any ideas on how to get the rotor off? WD-40? >.<

Did you take off the clip on one of the lug nuts off??? Mine didn't slide off either until I removed this.. My issue is getting the caliper pushed back.. I didn't have a C Clamp so maybe I'll pick one up tomorrow if it makes it easier.. Also I need a belt anyway from AutoZone so maybe I'll just rent that tool..

Theres a clip somewheres?!?!?! lol i'll try and find it... see if that helps.
If you don't see a clip at the end preventing the rotor from sliding off then you'll probably want to try rubber mallet or hammer with a cloth wrapped around the head. Take a few swings on the inside and it should pop right off.
1. from what i know (havent tried on the srt yet), to change the pad you only need to remove ONE of the bolt holding the caliper, then take the screw out and rotate the caliper then you will have full access to the pads.
2. i do not recommend to use the screw driver to pray the cynlinder back in. because it may damage it and if the cynlinder is old and rusted it may easily break it. i suggest to use a C-CLAMP (like 5 bucks) to push it back once the caliper is off.
Anyways thanks for the good info!
you can push the piston back into the caliper by hand if you want. just loosen the bleeder screw and push the piston in. IMO this is the best way to do this, and very easy. Only downside is you need to start with extra brake fluid.
ive done brakes on everything ive ever owned and im just now doing brakes on my neon. i did the rears and had no problems. but i broke a stud on the front and cant get the rotor off to replace the stud???? any ideas
Good writeup but i believe most manufactures recommend opening the bleeder when pushing the pistons back in so you dont push any dirty brake fluid into your abs valves.
