Alright, the names Charlie. I'm new here and to the domestics as well. I was wondering if there's a good number of people out there with base model neons who want to swap in the srt4 engine. Now I know some people will say "why not google it?" and my answer to that is: google is not a human, meaning you guys can give me way better info than google.
If there are enough people out there doing this I'm really just trying to find out what costs I'm looking at and also whether or not there is some good documentation floating about. Any opinions and/or insight into the matter will be well appreciated.

imo you should just get the srt4.... but yes there are quite a few people who do it... as for costs im guessing 5grand+ if you had cheap ass labor.

theres a LOT of people who have done swaps. it really depends what your goal is. just a motor swap is fairly easy and cheaper than buying a whole srt4. if you want to do a complete srt swap(facia, side skirts, hood, suspension[ACR], etc) it is gonna cost you a little more because a lot of the parts are getting to be pretty hard to come by. the motor swap IMO is pretty worth it though if you want a fast neon. it can probably be done for about 1500-2000 dollars if you already have the neon body(assuming you have a cherry picker and a few weekends). I also think that the insurance cost alone by having a base neon VIN would basically pay for the swap by itself.
Another option is swapping the a853 into a 1st gen neon, preferrably a coupe. the power to weight is insane. and again, it's pretty much a straight forward install.

O yeah and I do already have a Neon, it's a 2004 SE model w/108k miles/ Got it for 3k so all in all that would be... a 8000 dollar srt4, with just the engine swap. But, I want to upgrade the suspension too if I do that..

If your going to do a swap, take it from me...numerous out of state trips for interior parts, seats, body panels, wheels, suspension, and of course the engine. But thats if your going for 99% SRT-4 Swap...I say 99% because my VIN is still 05 Neon SXT with SRT Design Package.
I think the only + I got out of doing the swap rather than buying an actual SRT-4 was that I don't have a license plate hole in my front bumper..
I'd just look around for an SRT-4 on here
