Default What's The Life Span Of SB 50 Trim???

I'm looking at getting one of your standard bearing 50trims with the 48 a/r exhaust housings and was wondering how long do they usually last running around 22psi everyday driving and around 27psi or so every once in a while?

As long as the turbo gets proper oiling and cooling there is no reason why it wouldn't last the same as a stock turbo would.

I also have been hearing with the 48 a/r that I will loose alot of power by redline. How much of a power loss are we talking? Say if i'm at 380/390whp at 4k/5k what would it be at 6,500rpm's? All on a completly stock engine with all the normal bolt-on's. Just trying to figure out if the 50 is right for me.

When you say lose power, I am not quite sure what you mean.

Generally I have seen 50-trims in .48 housings max at about 450hp. A 50-trim in a .63 will max out at around 500hp.

For some reason people are saying it will hit good power in the mid range but it will fall off alot by the time it gets to redline. Example, like if it hit's 400whp at 4,000rpm's by the time it is at 6,500rpm's it would only be say like 350whp or so going by what i've heard. Like with my 60-1 it keeps building power all the way accross the rpm range to redline and with the stock turbo the dyno chart looked like an upside down U, hit good power early but then fell off.

At high RPM on a 50-trim the .48 can become a restriction at the higher boost levels, which is why they max out at a much lower power number. I wouldn't say it would fall off drasticly though up top. You may see it plateau a bit more up top compared to a 50-trim/.63 dyno though.

So just your guess by what you have seen, how much of a drop in hp would it be with the .48 if the peak hp was say 400whp what would be the redline power? Boost set around 22psi pump gas.

Sorry all these questions, just don't want to buy one and it not be what I was wanting.

IMO if your looking for a .48 50trim, just get a Delta 44...if you want more than that get the .63 50 trim

Only reason turbo's die on SRT4's is because owners are silly .
