picking up one of your hp61's ... it was actually on your "shop car" I guess ... my buddy bought it off you guys a couple years ago
anyways, if I were to swap over a t04s 4" compressor housing on it, would it just swap right over? I don't have the hp61 in my hands yet, so I haven't given it a shot ... but I'd imagine I can just swap this cover for the one that's on there, right?
We never had an HP61 on our shop car, as we sold that car long before HP61s were released.
In order to swap to a 4" cover, you will need a backplate and compressor housing. The turbo will need full disassembly and reassembly which is what is included in a rebuild.
interesting that you say it was never on your shop car ... my buddy called your shop about 2 years ago from now & wanted to check what turbo kits you had in stock ... you guys said that you had a "shop car" that you were parting out & he bought everything ... in the end, you guys sold him some sort of a dump exhaust, emanage, 750's, return line, hp61 turbo kit, stage 1 and a bunch of other things ... does this ring a bell? is it indeed an hp61? it's only oil cooled, not water cooled and hits full spool just north of 4k rpm's
also, if this were an hp61 like I'm assuming, why couldn't I just swap over my t04s housing onto it? I already have the t04s housing on my 60 trim ... the backplate between my turbo & the hp61 aren't compatible with different housings? I thought it was just a simple swap just like the turbine housings

No it definitely does not ring a bell. I can't remember why we'd have a dump exhaust or an e-manage and I can assure you I've never sold anything used like that.
Oh well.
Here's a picture of an e backplate on the left, and an S backplate on the right. No they are not interchangeable.
I have seen some china compressor housings that have a 4" inlet 2.5" outlet that bolt to E backplates, so that might be what you're thinking of.
