Oil restrictor???

Brand new fresh rebuilt gt35 JOUNRAL garrett housing turbo.

Hear alot of guys using Oil restrictor on turbos cause they can not drain oil fast enough, there for push oil out into the hot side. Im GUESSING this is my problem as well. Running -6 line fee i belive have pics, and no restrictor. Still pushing oil out the hot side. BRAND NEW pvc valve, and my drain line is huge, with no clogs. Should i try one?

Had this problem EVER since i put this turbo on...

Wheres best place to get one? And how and WHERE do they go? guessing before turbo after the feed line, so right inbetween the an fitting and line?

i'm not 100% sure, but i am pretty sure you do NOT use a oil restrictor on the journal bearing... the dbb might but i don't think you do with the journal bearing...

Well I heard of journals using them BEAUSE of this reason, Pushing oil past rings. My oil drain is WIDE open?!?!? And pvc valve is brand new. Makes no sence.

Only thing i can think of is the turbo is getting to much oil

We never recommend an oil restrictor for a journal bearing turbo. What's the smallest size of your drain line with all those fittings? From the pics, that might be your problem. I'm willing to bet that with all those fittings, your actual ID of your drain line is something like .400".

Isnt the oil restricted at the inlet on the turbo?

I had been fighting this issue when I had my Holset. I ended up with a restrictor with a .060 hole. With no restrictor, I would blow oil past the rings on the hot side and there wasnt a restriction on the oil inlet on the turbo.

When i get home ill mic the inside of the brass piece smallest piece and the id of the hose. You think i need larger hose? And bore out that brass area out a little larger?

Hey ben, What should the ID be of the drain line? What do you guys use? Ill try to bore out the brass piece of it is .400 or less Im guessing it should be larger? This is what my local speed shop got me for oil drain. Sooo idk? I do know that i cant seem to drain all the oil though, cause its still leakin out the hot side. Just a little. Not heavy, but still is pushing it out.

Read that all oil drain tubes should be no less than 1/2 inch ID. Soo ill take a look at that.

70-80 psi will cause oil to blow past rings, I doubt our motors reach 80 psi at wot?? I dont have have bottom end oil psi, just top end.

A turbo will also look like that when your crankcase pressure is too high and doesn't allow the turbo to drain.
