Over the weekend I seen one srt with the hood miss aligned a little since he had installed a fmic. That's what he'd noticed.
No, the problem we found is due to surge. The air fighting itself in the pressurized track is quite powerful and continuously beating against the end tanks can eventually cause them to split at the middle of the weld where it attaches to the end tank. It has nothing to do with the quality of the weld.
We made some changes to our end tanks about a year ago to make this area stronger and no one has had a problem since. That's not to say you will have a problem if you have one of our intercoolers that was built before this change, because we have plenty of people that have 3 years and over 70K miles with our intercoolers. We have just seen that the few that have had the end tanks split, it was due to surge.
If your car surges, turn the boost down.
