Getting the delta 65 tuned tommorow, how hard would you push it
I'm going to Pwerks to get it tuned tommorow and am curious as to how much boost on race gas I should throw at it. Here's the mod list
CP pistons
Eagle rods
DCR oil system
BS removed & crankscraper
DCR 5 layer head gasket
Ported and polished head with bigger valves
Crower S2 cams with unorthodox cam gears
Delta 65
AGP race FMIC
Ported intake
LFS TB
Stage 1
Diablo Sport
750 cc inj with return line
255 in tank & 255 inline pump
Devils own progressive meth kit with M7 nozzle
For the race gas tune i'm using straight 110 race gas. How much boost could I get away with since I don't have a strap kit? Is 30 psi to much? Thanks
should be ok just dont rev it to the moon without the strap and those rods, Rev her to 7300rpm.

First off, i think weve seen a huge power loss after 6500 on this turbo, but with fantastic early power and torque. So I think you are in safe range with the rods rpm wise, but just don't push the rpms past where its making power. High rpms + no power = rod stretch and cracking.
Second, with dual pumps you should have no problem holding 80+psi fuel pressure out to redline even with a 90%+ injector duty cycle. That coupled with the methanol and the race gas (which can be run leaner) I think you have plenty of fuel to max out your bottom-end (I wouldn't tune past 550whp).
Adjust your cams so your powerband is between 4k and 7k and get a nice 12.0 AFR and you shouldn't have to run past 26-27psi to hit your target. Dont tease the torque curve too early, again your rods dont cope well with pavement stomping torque.
Goodluck, keep us posted. I agree with others, a strap kit is a bit of a must at your levels, just too much risk of a shift in the bedplate causing cracks with a bearing and rod failure.

Not to get too far off topic, but I really wish we could get some better answers on the strap kit and when it is 'actually' needed. Has anybody brought this question to the SRT engineering group?
For instance, I read the following:
"The SRT-4 drag teams are rumored to be making between 800 and 1200 hp on the stock crank (and stock block and bedplate), so we figure it's strong enough."

Ever get it tuned ? I laugh all the time when people bash eagle rods, For literally 90% of the members on this board they are fine. Although in this situation and for the power level your setup is capable of, I would have gone with a strap kit for safety measures.

I doubt anyone of these guys were running 800whp when it cracked...just be mindful, most people will never know if they have a cracked bedplate until they pull apart the engine
